Hi,
So there are times when the game tells me to press the escape button, like when on the settings menu, or when I open some function inside the game, so I can get back to where I was before opening that function.
Pressing the escape key just prompts a question saying if I would like to exit the game...
Today i accidentally opened some menu and couldn't get back to play. I tried everything I could think of, and it just didn't work. Is this some kind of bug? It's really annoying...
To me adding "stadia.google.com" to the list of Unprotected Sites in the DuckDuckGo Plugin did the job, now the escape key works flawlessly.
Hope this helps!
Looking this up in 2022 and found a solution that worked for me.
If you are using Brave, acesss the Stadia website and turn off the Brave Shield. (By clicking the orange lion on the right side of the address bar)
Worked for me. Hope it helps someone out.
@Languagemaniac When you press the Esc key, make sure to tap the key, and not hold it. Holding the Esc will trigger the prompt to exit the game, but it shouldn't happen if you just tap it.
Hi, it turns out it's a Google chrome error, I have the latest version and it does that but Canary chrome doesn't. I tried disabling all the pluggins and even tried different keyboards with the same result in chrome. And I'm not holding the key, just a quick press...
I'm getting the same issue -- I'm on Chrome 87.0.4280.88 (Official Build) (64-bit) -- and I cannot just "tap" escape without bringing up the stadia "Back To Game / Exit Game" buttons.
I had similar issue, but Incognito did the trick for me.
Heh.. that did the trick for me too. Nice workaround. Thanks.
edit: See @Basilicum 's reply below for what worked for me -- if you're using the DuckDuckGo Chrome extension, it may be getting in the way.
Yeah, I'm facing the same issue ![]()

OMG! This is the answer! I never realized DuckDuckGo protected sites you visit in the browser; I thought it just replaced the default search page! Thank you so much @Basilicum! Your reply needs to be highlighted.

Hi everyone,
This is an older post so we're going to go ahead and lock it now. If anyone still needs help after trying the suggestions here, I'd recommend creating a new post so that you can get better visibility in our community.
Thank you,
