wondering if anyone knows the reason behind the following?
normally I experience a latency around 6ms. However, today according to the Stadia + extension, my latency is around 30ms - and feels unplayable.
however, I did a speed test through my ISP homehub, and it says I have a latency of 4ms. Both screenshots were taken about 3 minutes apart.
stadia is the only thing open on my browser and nothing else is streaming/downloading in my household.
See below for pics.
I'm also on the same 1.5 gigabit plan with Bell, but I don't use the HomeHub and instead use my own equipment. I'm in Toronto and haven't had any latency issues with Stadia on mobile or using chromecast ultra but I do have a certain laptop (my office laptop) that it just never worked well on in Chrome even if it's wired by ethernet and I have never been able to figure out what the problem is. My best guess is it's related to the extra security and VPN software installed on the laptop (even though when I'm on Stadia I'm not connected to the corporate VPN).
Do you have access to a different PC to try it with, or a Chromecast Ultra? That would rule out whether it's a PC issue or truly a networking problem though given my experience I suspect the former.
Hi @BinaryJay Thanks for your reply. I’ve used a surface pro 7, as well as a PC desktop. But I experience the same issue on both devices. I don’t have a VPN installed on either, and have McAfee as the security software.
how did you use your own equipment? I was under the impression that homehub was required if your plan included internet, cable and pvr?
