For at least the last week when I am playing Destiny 2 in chrome on Stadia in Alberta Canada, the game keeps prompting I may drop due to bad network connection and frequently does. However, when I run the stadia network test suggested, it says my connection is great.
What gives?
I have made no changes to my system or router settings and this was working fine for months. So well in fact that I was considering dumping my xbox live subscription to justify getting the stadia pro as I WAS playing it more often.
The timing couldn't be better, certainly not planning to make the switch until I figure out what the reasonable issue is.
EDIT: Windows 10, Chrome 96.0.4664.45, w stadia controller, on shaw. MLab is 200M down 85M up
I will keep editing this post as I try and fail.
Hi @dircur
This could be caused by your local network or your ISP.
Most likely something on your local network side is not working very well.
Are you using WiFi? If so do you use WiFi 5GHz for your Stadia devices?
Maybe there are to many devices connected to your WiFi for your router to handle.
Sometimes a router/modem reboot could fix some issues.
Thanks RXShorty,
I have tried all the standard troubleshooting. 5GHz; the ISP's router is supposed to handle all of that and does not allow me to choose between 5 and 2.4. Ultimately I used to run my own mesh which was very good, but when I upgraded to the ISP's highest tier they recommended using their router and it has been a much better experience until now. There really haven't been any changes to usage and all was well up until ~ a week ago. I have 2 teenagers and yeah there is always a lot on the network, but Stadia has been working great until now. I have checked for new network devices and/or spikes in usage but there haven't been any so I am at a lose. I didn't get kicked last night but I did get the warning and had a few freeze ups. I added the port forwarding rules, and will change my dns tonight but I am not holding my breath.
have you tried to use an Ethernet Cable just to see if the problem persists? Do you have many devices around connected to the WiFi? Do you have any older bluetooth equipment that is just by your computer?
In short: Try removing other sources of RF interference that might cause problems. I know that a phone in to close can be a problem at times with for other WiFi devices.
You can also check if your WiFi network is "on-top" of any other WiFi network, and if so, you might want to change the channel that the network uses. (This because there might just not be very much room in the Mux left if two networks are sharing the same or close channels)
Im dealing with same issue. Shaw as your provider?
I am also dealing with the same issues, I think it is going to take awhile to sort out. I have a ticket open up with Stadia support and Shaw support.
Take a look at these two articles that I found
https://support.shaw.ca/t5/internet-discussions/google-stadia-latency-in-alberta/td-p/44412
https://www.reddit.com/r/shaw/comments/qz74cf/anyone_having_issues_with_stadia/
Sorry for not being prompt, still getting the warning and ridiculous lag. I did try a hard line but still got the message... and yes I am on Shaw.
No updates otherwise
No problem, after I talked with Shaw support they couldn't find anything and said that Google should be able to track it down, not feeling confident about this.
I'm wondering if anyone on Telus is running into the same issues.
Updates? I've been doing the circle jerk between Shaw and Google support to find my problem. Done everything imaginable to correct the problem and nothing. Upgraded internet to 1gb. Used ping plotter and ping tests and sent to Shaw and Google support. Unstable connection even if try play 720 p. But xcloud works. Had a technician come out to my house replaced the line running to my house out the main line.
I am having the same issue with a different provider. Playing on PC wired or chrome cast wired and everything wifi doesn't change anything. Everything was working really good for awhile and than just went to crap with out me changing nothing. I have gone through all the steps to try and fix this and nothing works. Tested all connections and used different devices. I just don't understand how everything was working so flawlessly and than without me changing anything it I get kicked from games for unstable connection. I am fixing to cancel Stadia if I can't get this resolved. I also pay for Ubisoft plus and will be cancelling that as well if I can not resolve this.
