Hiya, so I just got the family sharing feature and connected my kid's family-linked account to Stadia, set up family payments, approved specific games, et cetera. However, whenever we go to actually play the game on the kid account, it refuses - says I need to refresh the account access token, but doing so gives us a 403 access denied error message. Very odd! And also makes family share useless until it's fixed. What can be done to fix this?
Hi @DemiurgeMCK
please be a little bit more patient. The feature is rolling out. Please try again in the upcoming days. ![]()

I got the same issue

@Tobonaut How long should we wait? It's been 8 days since this reply. Is this a known bug? Or is this still rolling out to people?
Is there any update to this? It seems based on what I can see that this only works if I can add my childs account to Google Home - But according to Google Home I can't add him if he is 13 and under.
But I had already had him join Stadia and even bought a game for him to only find out he can't launch any games due to this issue.
Strangely, I have the same error. I think if stadia wants to survive they need to make sure this works before rolling it out... Sony would have and so would Microsoft. This is my first week using stadia and every day there's a new error with the smallest of stress testing. I've just told my daughter she should wait a few days and she says it's useless. I agree.
Hi @DemiurgeMCK, thanks for posting about this. To piggyback on @Tobonaut's insightful response, this feature is still rolling out for many players, so it may be the case that your family member's account does not have the feature yet. Hang tight a bit longer. If you wouldn't mind updating this thread (please tag me) in the coming days, that would be super helpful. Thanks a bunch!
El error lo da solo con las cuentas asociadas supervisadas de menores de edad , en cuentas no supervisadas por un adulto no ocurre
I had the exact same issue with my family accounts, when I tried to start games in Chrome.
Then I added the family accounts to my Chromecast, and now everything works perfectly, on both Chromecast and Chrome.
Hope this might help you and others too...until a proper fix is released ![]()
This worked perfectly for me.
I have two twin boys, we have bought them both phones for their birthday and I was setting up Stadia for them to share my games from my own account via "Shared by family".
With one I added to the Chromecast first and worked fine. The other, I didn't do Chromecast first, thinking I'd set it up later once it was working on mobile said "having an issue issuing tokens to game" - for any game.
Having set up the family payment and sharing on other pages, I'm not sure why adding the account to Chromecast affects this, I wouldn't have thought of this so thanks for suggesting.
Same problem here. I want my kid to play a game on Stadia with Chrome. Access denied all the time. When will this be fixed?
I have this same issue also. Family sharing should be expected to work with family link.
Is there an ETA on when this will be fixed?
Just wanted to add that my family is having the same issue. Fingers crossed this gets fixed sooner rather than later.
Thanks
If you still have problems with access token a, check my reply a few posts up.
Add family accounts to Chromecast, and then it'll work on all platforms ![]()
This could very well be the issue. I was seeing the same access token problem when we set up my daughter's account via Chromebook, but it just went away over time. It's very possible in between that we had added her Stadia account to the Chromecast (had to do this with the app, only way it currently works) so this is a potential solution.
Child one under 13 has this problem, Child two who is 15 has no issue accessing my library. Accounts for children under 13 are very problematic as of late. My 8 year old can no longer use the google home speakers for music because accounts under 13 cannot access Youtube and GPM is now gone.
Having the same issue here. Wife, 13yo, 6yo all have access. 7yo gets access denied errors on Chrome, Android and Chromecast. I even set her a brand new child account with a new address but still have the exact same problem.
Currently have an open case with google support since 10th Nov.
I think this topic should have the solved tag removed. Since being patient is not a solution to the problem.
Update: As of 19th November all my managed accounts are working. I'm not clear if it was something Google support did or if it just sorted itself out out but if you are still having issues I would get in touch with them. They were very helpful and happy to help.
