After working fine for quite some time, I now have the "Failed to start RTC client" message. This appears when using chrome on win 10, chrome on my android phone and also when using the chromecast.
All devices are up to date. I've disabled extensions etc. Still not working. Any additional suggestions? Either way it worked fine, now all over sudden it doesn't.
Hi @Nelson313 -
I have seen this issue pop up in the forum before and there seems to be a fix. Here is the link to the post that has been marked as solved.
Hope this helps!
Tried all that sadly. Still have the same issue. What's weird is that it also happens when using chromecast. So no browser involved.
Hello @Nelson313,
I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing this problem. I can't imagine how frustrating this situation may be. We'd like to get some for information to see if we can better understand the issue and therefore, get closer to a potential resolution.
Thank you for your patience and we look forward to your response.
Thank you,
James
Thanks for your reply. I only have cyberpunk on stadia. The pics are from using a chromecast and from logging in one mobile chrome browser on an android phone. I tried a chrome browser on win10 as well.
All these devices worked fine in the past. I haven't used stadia in a few months and now nothing works. No changes were made to my home network and all other IOT devices work just fine.
Looking forward to your reply.

I just figured out stadia works when I use mobile 4g connection. Something must have been changed in my modem by my internet provider since I haven't changed anything on my router. Do you have any suggestions?
Hey @Nelson313,
What router do you have? We have seen that some routers in particular can cause certain issues with the Stadia experience.
Thanks,
James
I have a Synology RT2600ac. No changes were made recently to its setup.
Yeah, unfortunately, that's not one of the routers on the list.
Okay, so I have a couple more thoughts. Now these may seem like silly suggestions, but we just want to make sure we've covered all of our bases.
You may have already done this, so no worries if you have. Like I said, we just want to double check all of our options.
Thank you,
James
Not a stupid question, but yes of course.
I'm quite clued up on home networking setup. Hence that router.
I'll keep looking into options. However at this point, I'd recommend checking in with your ISP and the manufacturer of your router to see if there are certain settings turned on that may be interfering with your Stadia experience.
I'll keep you posted.
James
Hi James
I haven't been able to look into the issue for a while. But had contact with my ISP yesterday. They didn't change anything on their side and I changed nothing in my router.
I'm running a Synology ac2600 and I dont have a default adblocker on the router. The weird thing is it seems that only your service is affected. Xbox live Netflix etc. etc. all work fine. It's not an extension issue since it happens also when using the chromecast.
Can you distill what could be stopping the rtc client from functioning? Only having this issue when attempting a stafia session from within my own LAN. When using all the affected devices outside it, all works fine.
Thanks
V/R Emile
Hi James,
After some extensive research I determined that a certain update to threat prevention in SRM (Synology router manager) is now blocking the traffic to the stadia servers. SRM classifies it as:
Attempted User Privilege Gain: ET INFO Session Traversal Utilities for NAT (STUN Binding Request)
Additional data can be found here:
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc5389#section-16.1.1
I'm currently unable to make an exception for stadia, since the service connects to a different IP every session. Therefore I can't make an exemption rule for a specific (range of) IP.
If you have any suggestions I'm all ears.
