Hi, so after some time I was thinking about getting again into Stadia so I bought elder scrolls online but when I started it my framerate was very unstable and resolution was quickly changing between 1080p and 720p (sometimes it dropped lower). I don't think it's made by my internet connection. I have stable 45mbps and I am connected by cable. In past, I already played Borderlands 3 on stadia and everything was stable, I was running at 60FPS 1080p without problems but now I have this problem. Is someone having similar problems? can someone help? Thanks
Edit: I have no browser extensions, and my hardware changed only for better CPU
Hi @ValiantFan771,
Did you try other games to see if it is game specific?
You can try the free to play game Destiny 2.
One thing you can try is playing Stadia in a Chrome Incognito window to see if that helps. ![]()
ok, I tried both, Destiny and incognito mode. Everything was acting the same
Hi @ValiantFan771,
It could be a issue with your home network but I also fixed some issues by using the Chrome Canary version.
How is your internet latency? You can check this with serval online internet speed test tooling. ![]()
My latency with stadia server is 8 or 9ms so nothing terrible. And using canary chrome does not helped
Hello @ValiantFan771,
45 Mbps through "cable", right ? Could you please precise if it's CPL or Ethernet ?
It's different. Ethernet is stable. CPL isn't, even if it's also a cable. It is subject to electronic perturbations (way more than Ethernet).
Please note that Ethernet can also be impacted if it's a cat4 cable or below.
Wanna try your stability ?
Diagnostic :
45 Mbps is suffisent to play in 4K without any input lag, so if you have input lag / delay or if the video does blur, it probably means it came from your stability, not your speed.
Once I'll know what's happening I will provide further infos / solutions. ![]()
Hi, I am using ethernet cable. Also, I tried ping the stadia. My delay is 8 or 9 ms. Mostly 9ms.
Hello @ValiantFan771,
I assume it is constantly without any timeout / drop.
It means your network is fast and stable.
The problem occurs from somewhere else then. Try installing the Stadia Enhanced addon to monitor what's happening once in game.
Could you please provide us a screenshot of what you get when you reproduce your incident ?
It should looks like that (sorry, French here !) :
OK, I manage to somehow reproduce the problem. As I see it, the problem is that I am losing lots of packages. When I was done playing the number was around 1%
Hello @ValiantFan771,
I think you pointed out the problem.
As far as I know Stadia works through UDP (it's better for stream content, like live cameras, etc). It means you don't recover packet losts. 15.147 is a huge amount when you know that only 1 packet can create blur/input lag.
Something's wrong on your network atm.
Check this thread where I talk about ports used by Stadia. Try opening them, and disable your antivirus. Both before starting Stadia. Once done, try again, and let us know if the problem persist.
Antivirus such as Kaspersky does block Stadia, for example.
Hi.
That tread really helped. I played around an hour and I have only 14 lost packets and that was only during game startup so no big deal.
Unfortunately, now I don't know why I am stuck with 720p resolution. First few minutes I have FullHD but out of nowhere, it dropped to HD and no chance of going back to 1080p.
Anyway, some info about my hardware that could help:
OS: Win10 pro, latest update
CPU: ryzen 5 5600
GPU: GTX 1660 (it have the new version of nVenc)
RAM: 16GB
I have no antivirus (just windows defender)
I was thinking, that maybe this 720p could be because my upload is using another process in the background but I am not sure that this would happen with low upload speed. (my upload is 5mbps at max)
Hello @ValiantFan771,
UDP doesn't need upload (or atleast, less than Edge, lol, so 5 Mbps is huge), so it's not that.
It doesn't come from your hardware too.
Hardware only impact Decoding Time and yours is great. Really great.
Try to force the use of VP9 1080p/4K through Stadia Enhanced and see what happen ![]()
Will help you further after but I need to know.
Also try with Windows Defenders off (you have to close Chrome, everytab, then turn off Windows Defenders, wait 60sc, and try again.).
This thing is something that I see as the main problem of game streaming. Forcing 1080p with VP9 helped with resolution but again I have problems with lost packets. And yes, I tried to disable windows defender,
It looks like for some time cloud gaming (or at least stadia) is off for me.
Anyway, thanks for all help that you gave me.
I had similar issues and it ended up being WiFi interference on my network. An example is AirDrop from iPhones and other Apple devices. Disabling the feature on my nearby devices causes the problem, turning off AirDrop fixes the problem for me.
Well, I am not Apple user so AirDrop is 100% not the problem here.
I have the same issue, except no network issues. Goes from 1080p to 720p and back and forth. And at 1080p it becomes completely unstable.
Forcing vp9 still shows H264 codec running.
chromebook duet za6f 1080p 60hz
Problem at my side is that it starts at 1080p but after few minutes it goes down to 720p but never goes again to 1080p and it stays down at 720p.
