I have been trying at this for maybe 3 hours now.
"Just buy it and click play!" was what I was told. a seamless process was what I expected.
I, after searching everywhere I could think, could not find a single way of fixing this abominable image quality I am getting on every game on the platform.
I have tried:
- Microsoft edge
- Opera GX
- Chrome Incognito
- Chrome Canary
- Chrome Stable
- Chrome Web App on with stable
None of these have fixed the issue. I have restarted everything there is to restart.
I just want higher than 480p or whatever this is. I spent so much money on this just to get scammed out of a playable experience. What do I do?

I assume this is not on Stadia Pro so 1080P? Are you playing on a monitor with a native resolution that isn't 1080P? I've found that the scaling is somewhat poor in Chrome at non-native resolutions with Stadia which might explain your screenshots showing the aliasing. The artifacting examples look like compression artifacts, is Stadia reporting less than an "Excellent" connection in the status for you?
I have always personally had much, much better results IQ wise using the Chromecast Ultra.
Might be locked to 720p for some reason. You might want to change the stream settings in the stadia settings. Or if that does not work try installing the stadia enhanced chrome addon. It will lets you force the stream quality and stream encoding.
Also you might want to look up ways to enable hardware decoding of the video stream in chrome.
Do note that your computer may be unable to decode h264 or vp9 video in hardware or your cpu may not befast enough to decode anything else than 720p. And if so then you're out of luck.
Personally I'm running Stadia with Stadia enhanced set to force it to 2k resolution (Anything above 1080p requires pro subscription) with vp9 encoding. Which is very crisp and detailed on my 27" monitor without any really noticable artifacts during normal gameplay.
I've got the same problem
I'm on pro
I've got a gtx1080 vp9
I' tryed every chromium based browser
Stadia enchanted or every other extension DO NOT WORK
none of the solutions on the web work
Basically Chrome is broken on 1440p, say it clearly.
But when tried on a 1080p monitor and everything works perfectly
Chromecast on 1440p is a similar "bad" experience, but google did not want to design it for all possible users...so or 1080p/4K
WE WANT PLAY ON 1440P!!!!
1440p works very well for me. Crisp visuals, no artifacts and no lag.
Stadia works best for me in Chromium browser, not in Google Chrome. One has to admit that Stadia 4K quality setting isn't really native 4K like you get it for example from a Nividia 3090 graphics card. It's something between 1080p and 1440p on my 32inch 4K monitor.
I assume they just had to limit graphics quality in for example games like Metro Exodus or Cyberpunk 2077, because of the different approach: game streaming needs as low network traffic as possible, so that a lot of people even with lower bandwidth have access to the service.
I'm on a 1 Gigabit/s connection, so in my humble opinion they should boost image quality and deliver ray tracing etc. But as a matter of fact it's also dependent on which hardware they use server side.
