Connection Problem - 4k resolution?

Hi All,

i've a problem with 4k streaming, in the stadia option, when i try to play, i see that my connection is "middle" level but in the meantime i test my wifi line and...85mbps.

So what's the problem?

 i've VP9 hardware codec, a 4k monitor, a right line...i don't understand.

Please help me!

@rucolas84 Internet speed test can be used as an indication of your ability to stream Stadia games, but there are other factors that can also affect your stream quality, like latency. Just want to make sure, where are you located, and are you using VPN?

You can also take a look at the following article for ideas on how to improve your Stadia experience:

First, if you have the option to use ethernet cable, do it. If not reboot your router and bring you pc as close as possible to it.

After go to your video display settings and click in advance scaling option, right below the scaling and layout settings.

Turn off let windows try to fix apps so they're not blurry.

After go to advance display settings and set to 60htz of is not already done.

After go to your graphic cards settings, in the adjust size and proportion and scaling option, set the aspect ratio to full screen. If you have a second monitor, just turn it off.

Save everything and see if it solve your problem.

4kResolution.png

Thanks @LFay , i did every steps of your reply...and the situation is in this image.

Stadia know that i've: VP9 codec, an LG 4k monitor and a right connection to stream the best signal. And, as we can see, the resolution of the streaming is really 3840x2160 but the image result and the game resolution...terrible

With a Chromecast Ultra connected with ethernet to my TV, an LG Oled (not 4k), i can see better image definition...and is not a 4k resolution because of my TV.

In the end, my last test: i connected the chromecast ultra (wifi) to my PC monitor LG 4k. The Chromecast streams a 4k signal but, in anycase, i can see the same resolution of the image...a terrible one....i think something like 800x600

So i think that the poin isn't the ethernet/wifi connection or chromecast's/chrome's use...but or a problem:

1) with my monitor but i don't think so: LG 27UL650 27" ultra HD 4k IPS HDR 400, 3840x2160

 Help me! i can't play with this resolution with game like "Jedi: Fallen Order" or "Cyberpunk"...not after the costs incurred for: Stadia Pro subscription, Nvidia GTX 1660, 4k monitor LG and games on stadia.

@rucolas84 Are you using ethernet, or wireless? What I would suggest is to get your monitor and bring it close to your router, get your CCU and plug in your monitor, also plug a ethernet cable in your CCU. Check if it works properly.

After do the same thing using your wifi.

If wifi works better than ethernet, there is a problem with your cable or ethernet port.

If ethernet works much better we have a problem in your wifi.

Try to isolate the problems as much as you can.

Also, using the same Chromecast play any video in 4k, so we know the problem is not the monitor.

Edit: forget to mention, you need Stadia pro to get an 4k experience. Make sure you are a subscriber.

@LFay at the moment i'M using a "power link" to give connection to my PC, at i think that is really something similar to ethernet.

In anycase, at the end of the week, i'll buy an ethernet cable just to try...as you advice.

I really think that the problem is the Stadia resolution:

1) A 4k Monitor with a STDIA upscaling 4k, not native,  returns an unclear and not quality image to this kind of monitor.

2) An OLED 1080p with a STADIA HD resolution native, returns a better and clear image...not 4k resolution but really better than 1.

Hi @rucolas84 ,

Unfortunately powerlines adaptors are not the best solution for Stadia, sometimes they work fine, sometimes they will give you a worse performance than WiFi. However, they will never give you the same quality and performance than etherner cables, specially if your electrical wires are old.

I think an ethernet cable might solve your problem. Let me know the results. At least we will be able to identify the problem.

Hi @LFay ,thanks again for your support.

I'm sure that i'll do the ethernet test on 3 or 4 december.

I didn't know anything about the powerline Stadia performances, in anycase is so strange thatt the plug-in "Stadia Enhanced v1.6.0", during a game session, shows me that the streaming is 3840x2160 costantly, without any bug or lag or latency problem...usually link to a connection problem...but only a worst resolution than the Chromecast one (HD).

In anycase, cut the chatter, i'll try your solution  finger cross

@rucolas84

The poor conenction signal might be the reason your streamming bitrate is dropping. I just wonder if you are having this issue in every game or just the games that are actually 1080p.

Some 1080p will looks not as good in your monitor as it looks in your tv. First because you are sit very close to it, so de details is more clear. Secondly because monitor will not handle 1080p images as well as tvs.

Anyhow, trying it with Ethernet cable is always a good for troubleshooting.

Games look worse in Chrome that on Chromecast. No idea why, but this is how it is.

As for the connection issue, you aren't the only one, and it seems everyone is going to blame your local network despite all tests saying nothing is wrong.

There are a bunch of similar posts on this forum as well as on the Stadia subreddit. Nobody has any useful answers, including Google.

Are you using Dual video cards? If so, turn off  SLI or Crossfire
