Chromebook needs GPU with VP9 Support?

I'm wondering what kind of Chromebooks work well with Stadia? Is a CB with VP9 GPU support mandatory?

If the CPU is fast enough you can decode VP9 in software, too.

Hardware VP9 support is the better solution, though.

What means fast enough? What kind of processor will work? what kind of processor not?

Intel's Core i5 and i7 should be fast enough for 1080p60.

that's a lot for most of the chromebooks that usually used.

@Hepcat I have a Chromebook with Intel Core m3-6Y30 CPU, 4GB of RAM and run flawlessly at max setting playing RDR2.

I was stranded in upstate NY over Thanksgiving with an ASUS Chromebook Flip, XBox One controller and hotel "premium" wifi. I was able to play Destiny and Assassin's Creed pretty much flawlessly via Chrome. 2018 ASUS Chromebook Flip C213SA - Intel Dual-Core Apollo Lake N3350 , 4GB DDR4 RAM.
