I was playing on Stadia on my Chromebook without problems until recently.
I'm signed in with my Google Workspace account on my Chromebook and was able to switch accounts (without logging out as user in Chrome OS) to my Google Account with my Stadia Pro subscription in the Stadia Web App to play.
After a recent Chrome OS update, this doesn't work anymore and the play button in the Stadia app won't work if I switch to my Google account.
Is this a bug or WAI?
Can you see if resetting your browser settings makes any difference?
Hi @misterjupiter,
Can you do me a favor and provide us with some additional information about your system? Go to Settings > About Chrome OS > Additional details, tap on the little "Copy" icon (it looks like two stacked sheets of paper) next to the Build details line, and paste the results here.
Additionally, are you able to log in to this Chromebook under your personal Google Account and launch Stadia successfully there?
Thank you for your fast reply.
Yes, If I create a user account with my Google account on the Chromebook, Stadia works just fine. But that wasn't necessary to use Stadia with my Google account until now, and I'd like to avoid using my personal account on the device just to play Stadia, 'cause I use all other services and apps with my Workspace account. My Google account isn't used at all, except for Stadia, since Stadia still doesn't support Workspace accounts.
Here are the details you requested:

Thanks for those details!
Did you add your personal account as described here?

Yup, sure did.
As far as I can tell, the problem started with the latest Chrome OS update to version 104, but could be an earlier one. Last version It worked for sure was 101. I haven't played on my Chromebook for some time.
And when you're on the Stadia home page, and click on your avatar at the top right, does it correctly show the details for your personal account?
If I log in with my Google account, yes.
If you click the Switch Accounts button, does it display both your Workspace and personal Google accounts?
Just trying to step through this and make sure the accounts are showing up correctly where they're supposed to.
When I start the Stadia App, I'm always logged out and have to log in. The account selection shows both accounts, just as in Chromebook > Settings > Accounts. So I can select my Google account and log in to Stadia, which works just fine so far. After logging in, the play button on every game looks just like this:

Thanks, I haven't thought of that yet, to my shame. Since I'm a Platinum Product Expert for Chrome, I should have tried that first. I'll reset Chrome later and let you know how it went.
Thanks, that worked like a charm. Everything works just fine again.
Wasn't an extension though, I enabled the same as always. Must have been some website cache issue.
Nice, glad to hear that did the trick!
And happy to apply some of my Platinum PE for Chrome OS knowledge over on this side! ![]()
Glad you did. Again, thanks for the help. Stay safe. ![]()
