All games crashing

Jump to Best Response

Hello,

After hitman crashed during gameplay, I cannot start any game. They always crash during startup. This is a very annoying bug that prevents me from using stadia at all. Can this please be solved!

Thank you,

Best regards,

David

Hey @dbschr,

sorry to hear you have an issue with your games crashing in Chrome.

First it would be good if you check if this problem only exist in the browser or also on TV or with a mobile phone. If it exists everywhere, it might be a problem of your internet-connection.

Otherwise if it happens generally and only in the browser, maybe there is a problem with your Chrome Browser. To fix this I recommend the following steps:

  • Check that you have the most recent Chrome version.
  • Disable all extensions in the browser and check if that solves the issue.
  • Delete the cache & cookies of Chrome.
  • Check that your Chrome Browser is not blocked by any Malware (check here step 5).
  • Check your PC if there is any Malware/Virus installed that might cause issues in your browser. Try to just run an antivirus-programm to isolate this.
  • Check if you have experimental Features (Chrome flags) activated:
  1. Go to chrome://flags.
  2. Search a specific theme to your problem with the search bar and check if you can disable this feature, e.g. "enables pointer lock options" or "hardware accelerated video decode".
  3. If you can't find those, click on "reset to standard" in the top right corner to enable the standard-settings of the browser.

I'm also experiencing this on two accounts in my house. Both on chromecast ultras. There are heavy warnings that my connection is not stable enough to play.

I'm 700mbps up and 16 down, we were both playing dead for daylight last night co operatively so our network connection is more than stable enough.

Did all the tests and reset all my devices, rebooted the chromecast and it's still a hot mess. This new patch messed something up.

Yeah, same here. Never happened before today, I'm getting booted due to "connection issues", but I'm not actually experiencing any connection issues. Normally I get bad framerates, pixelation, input lag, but everything is running smoothly today. I've tried rebooting my modem & router, switching from Chromecast to Chrome browser, switching games, it's all resulting in the same thing, no gaming session lasting more than 5 minutes.

I am also experiencing this issue.  Any game I log into I get kicked out due to "connection issues".  I did note, despite being set to 1080p/14gigs, it said it could use up to 20gigs.  Not sure if it always says this or not?

I went through all the troubleshooting steps on the help page.  Going to troubleshoot Chrome now.

This is all on pc, btw.

Thanks!

Same here... Most games don't start at all, independent of device (pc, mobile, Chromecast) or connection (wifi or ethernet)

It's a shame...

Hope they fix this soon

This is still an issue and Google is refusing to take any action or investigate - every instance of Stadia support I've opened had told me to either seek Google WiFi support or support through my ISP.

I have circumvented my Google WiFi and run over a (paid) VPN service to eliminate those and still am crashing every 3-5 minutes telling me my 400 Mbps connection isn't strong enough to play, despite getting my full speeds at their own Project Stream speedtest.

The support for the Stadia platform is just too non existent to care about the platform anymore. I've been having these same problems as well with a 940Mbps down and 35mbps up connection on ethernet, being told my connection isn't stable enough. As much as I wanted to See Stadia succeed, even GeForce Now is more stable than Stadia. For me the answer to this issue is to stop using Stadia and move to Steam. When developers actually start to care about stabilizing the platform, maybe I'll come back and give it another try.
