2017 iMac Pro 5k can't run stadia 4k stream ?

Jump to Best Response

Hey guys,

What is the deal here?

I've looked into enabling VP9 in chrome. I looked at extensions.

But nothing seems to get stadia to run in 4k. This machine should be more than adequate to stream a game.

I mean come on why is this still an issue after all this time. Do you guys have to make a dongle to plug into a computer to run in 4k, now really?

Any help will be appreciated.

I'm able to get 4k with an extension on my MacBook pro.

I get the whole it may not have VP9 and were using extensions to bandage it.

But it's been how long now and Stadia can't make a real fix to this.

Disappointed, to say the least.

Maybe too obvious of a question but assuming you've actually confirmed that hardware decode is supported by the GPU in that machine, but do you have an active Stadia Pro subscription?

If so, check this post as well:

Another reason you might not be getting 4K is because the network connection is testing out to be inadequate, are you trying this wired via ethernet?  If not, might be worth trying that as well to see if it makes any difference.
