cannot enable family sharing

So Family sharing has been rolled out. but it seems its impossible to setup.

I have my founders edition loads of games.   My wife manages the Family group.   In the stadia app the family setting says to contact the family manager, which i have done but she sees no notifications.

the website says family sharing is paused and the family manager has to add a payment method.

So how do i get this working.... the help pages say "Before you can use family sharing, you'll need to create a Google family group with the same email address you used to set up your Stadia account. "

but if i do that then we lose access to all the other family group bits that we are subscribed to like Youtube music, Google One. 

have also tried to  change her payment method to mine and that too does not work.

So far this has been one big ball of frustration and seemingly impossible to resolve 

 

this is the message i generally see

Family sharing is paused
Ask xxx, your Google family manager, about updating your family payment method so that you can play shared games

I have the same issue. My wife manages the family group. Just had a chat with the support. They said, that my wife ad familiy administrator needs to have a basic stadia account in order for family members to be able to share. 

On the same matter I found this.

Issue has been fixed by Google Chat Support : my problem was having someone from another country inside my family group. All was fine, once that person removed !

Have you actually checked that the payment method associated to the account of the Family Manager isn't expired and otherwise valid?  It definitely seems like some kind of snag related to the payment methods.  In the family managers Google account, check Payments and Subscriptions then Payment Methods.

I manage our family group consisting of my wife and two kids and had no issues enabling family sharing.  You have to enable it on each account separately but I didn't run into any snags myself.

I set her payment method to be mine and still the same issue. It seems not to like the fact I'm not the manager of the family group.

I'm having the same issue. My family method of payment is up to date. As a matter of fact, ALL my methods of payment are up to date. I ONLY bought Stadia for this purpose (family sharing) so if it won't work, I want a refund for the game I just bought that I can't share.

Exactly the same here. I do have a valid family payment method, but it keeps telling me to add one. And when I click, the stadia web page just error saying "you can't add a family payment method right now, sorry for inconvenience"

Actually, I am the family administrator, I have a basic free stadia account, she has a pro trial, and neither of us can enable family sharing, with the same error on both accounts : you cannot set a family payment method.

 

Here is a GIF of that failure. It's french but it basically says : "An error occured, try again later"
