So, I have this problem. But when i run the speed test it tells me it's perfect. any ideas?
Are you playing on wifi or ethernet?
My guess is that’s its your router. I play on WiFi and it’s generally great. Last week I changes my WAP in one side of the house and now I occasionally get a similar message - never gets as far as dropping off but says it’s unstable and will disconnect if the problem persists....so for me, it was an issue with the router.
I’d say it’s wifi too and tbh google should warn people just how crappy the 5ghz band is, thought I knew my stuff about internet but got no real knowledge about advancements the last 5 year or so and pretty much assumed the higher ghz band was better than the lower in every way till it can barely reach my Chromecast about 3 metres away from router but with 2 doors in the way.
Generally the 5Ghz band will be a faster connection but it has less range than 2.4Ghz. They're not really so much "one is crappier than the other" but both have pros and cons. Not all devices will work on 5Ghz but if they can and are in the same room (for example) you would get a faster overall connection.
OnHug-GoogleWifi mesh does not allow to change 2.4 and 6 Ghz, but according to the google wifi app is my phone connected on the GHz channel -and giving unstable connection errors.
They recommend to swtich TO 5ghz. rsrs
i am playing on ethernet and i am still facing this problem. plz help
I have the same issues; playing stadia on my S10+ gives me connection errors all the time (does not matter how far from wifi) while playing on my Chromebook (ASUS) w/o problems; both connected to the same wifi. My Wifi is an OnHub-GoogleWifi mesh network, with playing priority in wifi app turned on.
Shame on Google, if their OWN wifi devices give wifi network problems, when using stadia. BTW: connection test of Stadia gives 'excellent' connection.
EDIT: I was really desperate about this lag issue, so did a factory reset of my phone; with all apps re-installing (quite a job!) -and it has resolved my issue! Obviously NOT a stadia/ wifi problem, but some unwanted settings on my phone. Everybody with similar issues; my advice is to do a factory reset (baah..).
If you are using wifi try to plug in Ethernet cable.
If you are using Ethernet, try to disable all extensions in chrome (such as adblocker etc.) and use only the stadia+ extension for stadia. Alternatively you can use the canary browser which disables all extensions right away.

It's most likely your router running on 2 GHz instead of 5
Same Problem here, I'm using a wired connection and getting a good test connection result (25 Mbps) but can't play any games, I even tried and turned off chromes hardware acceleration as some users suggested that but still no profit, if anyone has any other solution to share, It'd be much appreciated.
Exact same issue for me but to a somewhat greater extent. I have gigabit internet and stadia fails to even launch a game regardless of if I'm playing on a PC wired to the modem, wired to a nest wifi router, a phone on the 5ghz "stadia traffic preferred network", or a Chromecast ultra wired into the router. I've tried talking to support on 4 different occasions, but they've all had the same "we'll look into it" answer. Meanwhile, my initial months of stadia pro wasted away. I would say there's about a 20% chance that a game ever actually launches and even then, they usually drop connection within a few minutes of gameplay.
Im having the same problem and the worst thing is that i bought some games and a 1 year stadia suscription because some friends told me it would run ok and that it was a nice service
Same issue here. Gigabit wired. Was never an issue since Stadia first came out. Last few weeks, I'm lucky to be able to play for a couple hours once a week. Google says it's my IP. IP says everything looks good.
Adding my voice to this issue. Happens all the time. Never drops, but warns a lot. I'm in the basement, router is a direct 3m away (throught wood floor, basement ceiling not done).
This is new since a few weeks. Before that, it happened sometimes but I was playing on the other TV and the CC was within 60cm of the router.
Using Google Wifi (1st gen). Speedtests are showing 120+ with 2ms (using P2XL next to the CC device). ISP is in at 500.
Funny that this is still happening a year later. I will say it has gotten better. When I first used the service it was pixelated and laggy except on CCU. Thing is, I want to be able to play it on my PC as it was advertised. Still want to give stadia a shot, really hoping it works on Iphone when that beta starts, but dang do they make it hard and disappointing unlike apparently everyone else on reddit
Ugh don’t compare it to reddit and the cult over there so far it’s been pretty stable but sucks some people have issues.
Same issue. I run the test and it says my connection is good for 4k, but when I try to load a game I get that very same error. Very frusterating.
Same here, getting really sick of it. My connection goes from excellent to almost dropping, continually. Ethernet connected to CCU.
It's unacceptable, and clearly a problem with Google. Every test I can run says my 500 up and down Verizon connection is fine.
Piling on this. Every speed test (even Google's) says my connection is more than capable. I can't play wireless OR wired, and there's zero else going on in my network (Nest WiFi).
Real annoyed. I can see no reason for this on my end.
same problem. Google needs to fix this issue asap. Waste of 10/month plus games I have bought thinking this would be a great option. Speed tests have shown my connection is more than capable of 4k but i'd just be happy to be able to play the games.
It won’t work at all for me I’m so bummed
If you are playing Stadia using Chrome browser I suggest you use the Canary version of Chrome browser. I was getting the same warning using regular Chrome browser, no extensions. Barely getting the 10mbps minimum at times. Used Canary version and my speed jumped to over 300mbps. (Laptop connected with ethernet cable /w 300mbps internet service)
Hopefully this helps some but, that doesn't explain why the issue would still persist when using the Chromecast Ultra with a wired connection.
For me its the following: I have issues playing on wired chromecast ultra. Have a 70mbps fiber line and a mesh network. The Ultra is wired to one of the mesh nodes. On my laptop though, it works great on wifi.
Was really hoping to stow away my Xbox One but it seems like I have to keep it if I want to play on my tv.... total bummer.
I get this when testing my connection wired to my router. However I can't play a game without it stopping because my "connection is not stable enough". My ISP is Xfinity and I tried on both my CCU and my macbook pro. Everything worked fine until a week ago and since impossible to play a game correctly. Tried to talk to both stadia and xfinity support but noone is able to tell me what is wrong, everythign seems fine on both side. The only workaround I found is to use a VPN for my computer located close to where I live. The issue is that there is no way to use this VPN on my CCU. Does anyone know what I can do at that point?
Im having same issue. I have 300 download speed and ethernet connection. Been using Stadia since the beginning with no problems. About 5 days ago stadia tells me my connection is unstable and wont launch. Had internet provider come out and had them replace the modem and installed new wires and Stadia is still saying network unstable. Any ideas would be welcome.
Same exact issue started 5 days ago ...just posted a separate thread here on this because support told me they heard nothing of this ..should have known better and dug deeper before posting
