You Need A Better Connection to Play - Gigabit Fiber

Jump to Best Response

I have gigabit fiber.  My desktop is on a wired connection.  I have no other connectivity issues.  My speediest is 900/400.  Yet games are pixelated and I get booted stating I need a better connection.  The controller never connects on the first try.  It usually takes 3 or more tries to connect.  What is wrong?

Hello @slider162,

Check this thread.
Probably caused by a software / antivirus.

Also, speed =/= stability. Check your stability using cmd.exe > ping google.fr -t. If you have 4-10ms constantly without any drop/timeout, then your connection is stable. If not, it's unstable and your speed will not change anything about it.

@slider162 Sorry to hear you are having issues.

Have you adjusted your performance settings in Stadia Desktop or app? Can  you tell me what your max resolution shows in performance options?

Are you using CHROME? Please use Chrome if not.

If you have Nvidia.

Go to your Nvidia panel.

And turn off V-Sync. Reboot PC

I actually have better performance using opera gx or microsoft edge over chrome. Most likely because I have several extensions on chrome, and totally clean installs of opera gx and edge.

Out of curiosity, how does it perform on wifi?

I was on Edge.  I just installed the app and the same thing happens.  At 1080P, it is pixelated and warnings that the connection isn't stable.  GSYNC monitor so VSYNC is already turned off.
