Xiaomi Mi Projector

Hello, I am a "Buddy" user. I own a Xiaomi Mija Projector (EU version) with android 8. When Stadia will be rolled out to other chromecast devices, will I need to buy a chromecast ultra to play on the projector? Or the built in chromecast will be enough? Thanks!

I wouldn't hold my breath for Built-in Chromecast support! Honestly, the difference in quality between a Chromecast device and having it Built-in is mind bending. The Stadia team said they will announce more devices in the future, but there's no word on when. My guess is that the Nvidia Shield and regular Chromecast 3rd gen gets it next.

Yes currently you will need to purchase a Chromecast ultra to play Stadia on your projector.

I have read somewhere that the Chromecast 2nd and 3rd gen do not have the required codec's for use with Stadia.

Cathal

@Manovello Yep agreed with above - I have an android 9.0 TV box was hoping to side load the game app but I will need to link through an ultra to make it work...its not a real issue just adds an extra layer to my already googled house

Thanks everyone for the answers. It's kind of sad, all the idea behind stadia was to have an hardware independent gaming platform, but I guess this is not the case at the moment. Let's hope for the future. Right now the projector is the only 16:9 diplay that I have, as on my computer I runa 3 21:9 displays.... and right now stadia and 21:9 resolution are not exactly friends....

Out of curiousity. Can you watch Netflix natively on the Mi Projector?

I was looking into the short throw Xiaomi one but read that there were some licencing/DRM-issues with Netflix, as an example. If Xiaomi made it with lesser support from Google (or unofficial software) it might be that support never comes to it, especially if it won't recieve updates. Just a thought.
