Xbox One Controller on Ubuntu

Jump to Best Response
Hi everyone, I'm trying to use my Xbox One controller to play on stadia on my Ubuntu 19.x installation. I'm on the latest Chrome release 79.0.3945.88. I don't want to use the controller via BT, I'm connecting on USB. On Ubuntu the controller is present (if I run lsusb command it is present) but when I go on Stadia it's not recognized. Any suggestion ? Thanks

Thanks, but on Steam the controller is not recognized

UPDATE: Solved!
I found this solution:

https://www.reddit.com/r/linuxquestions/comments/cvtfbq/getting_my_wired_xbox_one_controllers_to_wor...

Just need to run...

sudo modprobe xpad

It's not recognized on https://html5gamepad.com/ but it works fine on Stadia

It could be that your not using chrome browser, don't have a Windows PC, or the controller does not have the drivers for it. My controller is by Xbox via USB and it works for me but, I'm using a Windows PC, have the drivers, and using chrome browser.

Ii forgot to mention even if you get it working the home button on Xbox controller will not pull up stadia overlaying screen for options and parties. You will still need a keyboard and mouse to use it by pressing shift + tab to open and close the menu.

On Windows and macOS it works fine.

The problem is just on Ubuntu

@Snakuzzo Since it doesn't work with the HTML5 gamepad tester that indicates that this is an Ubuntu/controller issue rather than a Stadia one.

I did some searching and found this thread which discusses the need to remove the controller from Steam before it will work elsewhere:

Would that happen to apply to your situation?

I'm using Manjaro KDE and it doesn't work for me.  Which version of Chrome are you using?  I'm using Chrome stable from AUR.  Thank you!

I have the opposite behavior.  My controller is recognized perfectly in Manjaro and on the HTML5 gamepad test site, but Stadia ignores my controller.
