One thing that is keeping me from potentially staying with Stadia after my trial expires is the quite sparse game library.
How are things expected to pan out for 2020, will the game library increase it's offerings slowly? Quickly?
@CoreyDotCom : The release of games for 2020 and beyond is all down to the publishers and developers. The question should really be raised with them as I can't see how Google/Stadia can force the publishers to release quicker, if they did then quality would suffer IMHO.
I hope quickly but I expect slowly.
Problem is also that we don't know when which game will be released or at least when it's planned.
The only thing you could do anyway is cancel your Stadia Pro if you don't want to continue and subscribe again later or purchase the games you want when you have Stadia Base (soon) as soon as they are available.
I do also think that most games needs the developer-roadmap as well, because it's easy to say for the developers "Yeah we want our game on Stadia", but the game might need some changes for fitting on Stadia without bugs, etc. Therefore I believe that some games might take more time, even when they are planned to come.
I still find it odd that everyone wants to know the development and release plan schedules for Stadia. It’s none of our business...
The issue with a publicly listed company providing this information is a lot more serious than a privately owned entity. Press releases and announcements have to be timed properly and in accordance with regulatory practices.
I don’t get why everyone is so hung up over release dates, it’ll happen when it happens.
I don’t get the full list of 2020 films to make it on Netflix in advance, I don’t get the full list of films coming on Sky Cinema in advance. I don’t seem to recall seeing this for Xbox Gold or Game Pass either... Why should Stadia be any different?
The problem is that the current library is so small, people already have played with all of the games and want to know when they can expect more. It's a valid desire to know when you can play other games.
The platforms you listed all have huge libraries. Imagine if Netflix would have 10-12 titles on their platform. You'd want to know when the new ones are coming, especially if you had to buy some hardware to access them.
Mind you, I'm still going through my second game and I'm not even done fully with the first one yet. I also bought the 3rd one already as there was a sale, but I haven't even opened it yet. But there are people who played most of these games on other platforms and want to play with something new on Stadia.
@GreFan Exactly.
Perfect comment. People want to compare Stadia with already established services... Netflix doesn't need to do it because it already has a huge library and IT'S RELIABLE, I repeat, RELIABLE!!!
Stadia can't keep acting so passive like atm.
It’s none of our business...
Bull**bleep**. As paying customers, with a subscription fee starting soon, it's very much our business as that it will inform if we decide to pay for the service.
People are interested, and want to know more, but feel free to stick your head in the sand, I'll be happy to no longer hear you.
@JebusLives : No need to speak like that, it's rude and quite frankly uncalled for.
"Bull**bleep**. As paying customers, with a subscription fee starting soon, it's very much our business as that it will inform if we decide to pay for the service." - This is your belief, I understand that, but actually nowhere in the service contract with Google does it state that they have to inform us of anything. So while I understand everyone thinks that it is information that they should have, in actual reality its none of our business.
"People are interested, and want to know more, but feel free to stick your head in the sand, I'll be happy to no longer hear you." - Yes, people are interested, and I'm interested, but you're not gonna persuade Google to give out any information sooner than it will be made available based on the criteria that they already follow when it comes to press releases and public announcements.
They didn’t engage themselves to announce anything public however nobody will invest in anything if they dont show it like it’s good. Nobody even wants to pay a subscription for features that aren’t there and nobody knows when they will be there.
so yea go on and enjoy the fail. Everyone ´s furious for a reason.
@Nilas :
'Nobody even wants to pay a subscription for features that aren’t there' - that is very true. There isn't too much time left to release a bunch of working features to help justify the subscription. Certainly, the games on offer currently as a part of the Pro subscription in conjunction with HDTV/5.1 support are not yet sufficient enough to justify it enough IMHO.
There is still time to turn this around, for some it will be too late, and for others it will be long overdue.
@Mad_Dog_Bravo I think the games offered as pro are not sufficient because i cannot choose them. I mean it’s good but i already bought games and i expect that next months google will offer games i bought. I am fine with it but i would expect to have new releases to buy to keep me interested.
in addition, i am not really happy with the current 3 months. We knew some features would be missing (they said from the beginning that pixel phones would be the only phones compatible in the beginning) but i’m disappointed with no wireless controler on chrome brower and no 4k. I mean they « offered » 3 free months but hinestly, it would be a shame if they even tried to bill that, when we paid 129€ already. As a founder i do not feel like i made a great deal in the end.
Everything is so vague with stadia. How can we decide that we may pass on the next consoles to be a stadia player if google says nothing. We can play the stadia games on a playstation (sure wéll have to download but on the other hand we would access the sony games).
we just want google to inform us so we can focus on stadia and justify it. Currently it’s a non-sense only because google refuse to say anything.
Stadia needs to have more games in its library, and that is a major point when you try to attract customers.
Of course Google can do something about that: pay developers to make a good port for Stadia and develop first-party games. That last point takes years to show some result.
Service is great and the subscription is ok for me - I could be all day playing Destiny 2 - but they should add features and games before Stadia Base is released.
I think next update will be a pointer and should be used as a benchmark on the future of Stadia.
Small update with only small changes. Vs Big update with a lot of changes.
We are soon one month without any update at all ( update on the 20th was which games that was pro Stadia in January with a round up,)
With a small update the upcoming days I will state that Stadia have more core problems then anyone could expect.
Medium to large update shows that developers is working on it ( without core problems)
I'm personally hoping we get a full Stadia Connect soon and they can launch a volley of titles coming across the entire year for us. May be wishful thinking, but what better way to showcase developers, game franchises, and build hype? Unfortunately, for now the few games we know of (Doom 2016, Doom Eternal, Cyberpunk, etc) don't have confirmed release dates. Developers like Capcom were listed as launch title devs, but have not confirmed any titles.
I really hope they just land some google titles soon, it's becoming an annoying situation. And they need to do it before the band starts playing the violin in a sinking ship.
