Just like a lot of people, I have received the hardware, no invite code.
Took the day off, set everything up, only to realise its all deadwood without an invite code.
How is it possible that hardware, that needs to be manufactured, and delivered, in person, arrives before an automated email, with a code, that gets auto generated?
For a company that creates software and hardware, this is pathetic. Its fallout levels of pathetic.
I would say sort it out, but then it looks like there is no response from them. An update over 10 hours ago, stating things will get sorted, lies, as there is no solution.
Seems like Google still have some work to do conserning their shipment and pre-order handling.
My package hasn't arrived yet, but I'd love to get the code ASAP. A "small fraction of users" seems to be a lot of users at this point. Hope you get your code soon!
When did you order?
I've seen a few people mention the order dates. What I'd like to know is why this matters?
We all ordered the device before the opening day, so we all should have the hardware and be up and running. Now, where delivery gets delayed by a third party, they can't do too much about. However an email, that is on them to send, no hardware manufacturing required, no third party factory, just some code to make unique IDs, and something to authenticate this, before people can access services, is something that is on them entirely.
With the fact that some people have the codes, there should not be any delay in everyone getting codes. It's all auto generated, anyone who believes someone out there is hand crafting the codes, get real.
Order dates matter because Google said they'd send the packages in that order.
The codes were however supposed to be sent when the package was sent which obviously failed... Google blaimed an error and said that the codes are now being sent out in the same order, first ordered, first served. That's why I asked...
I ordered on the 11th of june.
