On the Battle.net community I use my Battle.net gamertag and profile.
On the Steam community I use my Steam ID and profile.
In Xbox communities I use my Xbox gamertag and profile.
Here, I have to use an unrelated username, because my Stadia gamertag was already taken when I registered on this forum on release day.
Why has Stadia chosen to deviate from this convention, and use a separate username system for this community?
The Stadia account and the Forum account are different so someone could take your Stadia nick, only now they are starting to merge it with the ability to have a Founder tag but the nicknames will remain the same.
There is a way to change your username in the settings. Luckily my gamertag wasn't already taken but it's just luck of the draw
y tho?
Have you tried changing it?
Tried again, and it still tells me my gamertag is taken. I was the 286th person to register on this forum, but I guess one of the first 285 took my Stadia gamertag.
Hey everyone, friendly reminder that this is not a Founders-specific support forum and all support inquiries should be directed towards the main forum. I'll be moving this post out of the Founders Hub to give all Stadia Community members the opportunity to chime in.
Regarding your question, the Stadia Community Forum is a completely separate platform from the Stadia platform. Therefore, the username you choose for the forum will be different from your Stadia gamertag.
