Hi everyone,
We're very excited to announce that Family Sharing is rolling out starting today! Please note that this rollout will take about a week or so to reach all users. To learn more, take a look at the "Share games with your family group" help center article.
Thanks in advance for your patience.
Yay! Thank you Chris and Grace!![]()
Yesssssssssssssss! Yes yes yes yes yes! Yeeeeeees.
Now Google can look after my children - thank you @StadiaTeam
Great news!!! Thanks for this update!
That's great but according to your support doc
Creating a family group
Before you can use family sharing, you'll need to create a Google family group with the same email address you used to set up your Stadia account. You'll also need to add a family payment method to the group before games can be shared among its members.
As I have an account but don't manage our family group does that mean I can't share the games with my family?
You can!
It says "any member of the group can turn on family sharing and share games with other family members" here:
THANK YOU Google!!
I can confirm it works, already using it ![]()
Thank you!!! I'm happy to be able to share the games I bought with my brother, considering his job is being affected greatly by the Pandemic. He'll be able to spend his time playing some awesome games!!!
Yay! Finally! Although no multiplayer game support?? Why?? See: "No one else in the family group is currently playing the game."
Yuhuuuu ![]()
Yay! the fact that you can play simultaneously on the different account is a nice surprise! but i'm confused by the choice to limit the possibility to play the same game, this will limit the co-op! a big point of the family sharing for games without local co-op mode!
Also, the Italian copy of the error dialog is really funny, it says "you can't play this game because is already in use download another copy in order to play"
Really? download? ![]()
About the coop part it is logic you can only play one at the time.
Your family has 1 license for the game not multiple. Sure if 2 members have the game then it is possible that 2 other family members can play the game, which is also pretty sweet.
The download part... Well LOL
Well, if you play the game cooperative (and cooperative only) should count as one license used, think about a couch co-op, but instead of having a split screen each family member can use a different screen, I'm sure that Stadia can offer this capability
maybe just not now.
Of course, the cooperative only should be enforced by the system and not leaved to the user to just "behave correctly"
Thanks for reporting the funny dialog, @HatDroid!
Yup we had some laughs in the italian community ![]()
Thank you so much!! Family sharing is one of the features I was waiting for a loooong time, glad it's coming now. ![]()
I had already set up a family anyway, because I do also have Google One, so for Stadia I just needed to add a family payment method and then I was able to select if I want to share all games automatically or only specific games one-by-one.
And now it's working fine. My BF can see and play all games that I own - the ones that I've purchased and also the Stadia Pro games.
Amaziiiiiing ![]()
Can't wait I have been wanting this since I ordered stadia back in July 2019 ![]()
Thank you!
Ultra excited about this! I love Google Stadia!
Enabled and working great, thanks (finally!) @StadiaTeam!
Since I play mostly destiny 2 with my daughter this feature is no use for me. Also no Pac Man or Bomber Man with one license. For single Player it is fine. So half thump up.
Well... I'm sad too that I can't co-op with my son on different screen, but I'm sure that the feature will come along (maybe in a some different flavor from the Family sharing) but at least my sons now can have an own profile without the need to buy two times the same game!
I do applaud the family sharing but am indeed disappointed that it wasn't something like a pro-family subscription or something like buying the game for your family members at a reduced price. I do get the feeling the Stadia team tried to convince the game publishers to think outside of their already tiny boxes. Maybe that's one of the reasons family sharing came so late. In the end, I do believe family sharing in the before mentioned way will be a win-win for everyone. Right now I'm not running to the stadia store to buy those extra licenses for each of my family members for games we want to play together. Sorry publishers.....
You're right - you can't play the game simultaneously without purchasing another license.
But your family members can play any of your games on their own account without buying it themselves.
You can add your friends as your family and let them play your library
This is amazing. Exactly what I need!
I'm a little bummed out that it's not like playstations family share where I can play the same game as the person who is sharing it with me.
Can I add my brother if he lives in a different country than me?
Technically you can... You can add up to 5 Gmail addresses but I am not sure if it is allowed with user agreement. ![]()
A quick question about Family Sharing. Can you confirm whether DLC will be shareable across family members? For example, if I bought Far Cry 5: Ultimate Edition, would my family member also be able to play the Ultimate Edition or would they be limited to just the base game?
