After about 20 hours with "Final Fantasy 15" a bug occurred that makes it impossible to save anymore:
"Could not save data. Play will continue, but current settings are not saved."
It seems, PC users as well as PlayStation-users had the same issue from time to time.
Unfortunately, on Stadia i'm unable to fix anything.
Even starting a new game is not possible anymore, so i cannot play this game at all (well i could, but without saving, this will be some hard days).
The 1st-level-support just told me "that this is a game bug, so i have to contact SquareEnix - the Stadia-Team can't to anything here".
So here I am now, with 25% of his whole game-library on stadia unplayable. ![]()
So what was SquareEnix's response when you contacted them about this issue with their game?
why should users contact Square Enix with regards to the issue? Its not like SE can do anything with the Stadia servers they don’t manage them. If the issue is affecting FFXV running on Stadia then IMHO, it should be Google that raise this issue with SE. They can put considerably more pressure on SE to investigate when Google indicate that the issue is effecting their customer base of however many thousand users. If a user contacts SE, what can they do really? Whereas Google will have account managers, service managers and a myriad of folks that should be managing their technical relationship with games publishers. After-all Google is in a financial/contractual relationship with SE already.
@Mad_Dog_Bravo From the description of the issue in this thread, this sounds like something that will have to be addressed by SquareEnix - particularly since it seems to be / have been an issue on other platforms as well. This doesn't appear to be anything Stadia-specific so there isn't much (if anything) that Google can do from their end.
Just like with the crash bug on GRID, the best way to ensure that the problem gets fixed is to engage with the game's developer directly.
@codesplice : Understood, but I still think that Google should be managing their technical relationship with their partners and not putting the onus on the end users who are paying for a service/subscription with Google. To just accept the money and then not support the service properly just stinks imho.
Just imagine how that would fair with Netflix if they turned round to their customers and said that if a film doesn’t play properly on Netflix you should go talk to the production company or the the film studio instead...
I also think that it's not our responsibility to contact the developers.
What's next? 1st-level-support of Square telling me, that "Hokamura" was reponsible for the "save-function" and now I have to contact him via WhatsApp?
Of course, this is not googles fault.
But if I buy e.g. a toaster on amazon and it is not working, I contact Amazon instead of the chinese company that produced it - I don't even care about the name of that toaster-company at all. All I want is a working toaster.
Yep, a few of us already voiced our pleas for help
same here. I started getting that message last night (about 20 his in) and it's still happening. until it gets resolved it's unplayable. (ಠ_ಠ)
I've contacted square and an waiting for a reply.
update: I loaded the game just to see if anything has changed and my save files are gone. literally gone. there's one autosave still there but it's back a ways from where I was. but the manual saves I had are now blank.
I heard back from square enix support.
"We apologize for the trouble and inconvenience you have been experiencing. Unfortunately we are not able to assist further as your concern may be better suited for Google Support. We recommend for you to go through the Google Help Center for further assistance with this issue. As the Google Stadia is a separate service, managed by Google, we cannot provide any assistance for it."
so there's that. (ಠ_ಠ)
Sorry you're getting the runaround. Do contact Stadia support and explain the situation and hopefully they'll be able to refund the game given the circumstances.
Someone on reddit found a workarround :

Unfortunately this dir not work for me, so i am still not able to play this game - for 5 days
Sounds like a horrific experience! Just as a Quick comment though, it's not like Sony went out of their way to fix save issues for Skyrim on Playstation.
If it's a game related bug enabled by the fact the Stadia is a new platform they should, and probably are working with SE. If it's an issue on several platforms, of course it a game related bug and not a Stadia-specifik issue.
I don't mean to come of harsh here, I just think the platform-developer might not be at fault on every issue. Just a thought.
100% a Square Enix responsibility. The problem exists on other platforms as well. It's not at all surprising that they did a lazy port of the Windows version, and ported everything including existing bugs. Classy bureaucratic runaround with Square Enix support passing the buck back to Google and vice versa. No one wants to claim accountability -- and no one wants to give you your money back for a defective product.
