That’s correct. You enter your code, accept their terms by scrolling down and clicking a checkbox, then you pick you name. Takes about 10-15 seconds from when you get that email.

They can change my name to something else, but they can’t figure out how to change my name to have a capital letter. If they swap my name to something else temporarily, they may lose my current name. I’m pending tier2 support for more help.
@SelectButton Yes you can, as long as it's not taken. I think in this case, when you try to change capitalization, it's flagging that particular username has been taken (by the person trying to change the capitalization).
So a possible workaround would be to change your current username to something else, then change it back to the original username with the correct capitalization. Not sure if there's a grace period between changes though (and hopefully nobody else takes that username in between)
I’m still waiting to hear back from tier 2 support. They are supposed to email me.
I could ask them to swap names and then swap back, but as you mentioned, no one knows the cool down time or if it would get taken by someone else. At this point, primary support seems like they are just getting the hang of Stadia, so I don’t feel comfortable pushing them to attempt these swaps. If something goes wrong, I doubt I’ll get my name back. I’ll just hold tight for tier 2 to email me.
Maybe if staff on these forums sees this thread they can help check that there really is a ticket with tier 2.
As an update, it’s been over 24 hours since I was told that tier 2 support would review and email me back. At this point, my ticket was lost in the hundreds of other tickets about codes or they simply can’t fix my username at this time. Regardless, I wish they’d at least email me a status update.
I will give them 48 hours, then I will call them again and provide you all with a status update. I’ve already seen a few others on Reddit in the same boat and want to get this resolved for everyone.
@Matthew It's frustrating I know. But I guess this way you know that your picked name is safe, and nobody will be able to take over. You basically just need to claim it from yourself ![]()
Hopefully it'll get sorted out soon.
Support confirmed to me that they have had numerous requests for this, but it is not technically possible at this time. Their team is aware and working to build this capability in the near future. I was told to check in every few weeks to see if they have resolved the issue on their end.
I wish support here would confirm what I’ve been told.
