I purchased the long awaited Assassin's Creed Valhalla, thinking it would work well as many other games have on Stadia, but I am experiencing severe delay and frame skips on 1080p and 4k, whilst running on Chromecast Ultra or via a PC, both wireless or wired connections with the network speed of 400 MBit/s. I spent 48h trying to figure out if the fault is on my side, yet due to "Google's Policy" I am not eligible for a refund despite my efforts to fix the problem (as I do want to play the game using Stadia). I find it quite disappointing being a subscriber and frequent purchaser to simply be left high and dry unable to play the game nor being treated like a customer by the Google Stadia Team to at least provide a refund for clearly what is the failing on their platform this time.
The game does not run smoothly on release.
An update I just got the same courtesy extended.
Much appreciated.
Sorry to hear that you didn't got a refund for the game. I guess it might be because you haven't played less than 48 hours?
Anyway if you can't claim a refund and the Stadia team isn't able to provide you a refund due to the policy, then I guess you need to accept that in this case. I mean good thing is you still own that game, so you could wait until bugfixes are done and then play it again with hopefully less lags.
Unfortunately this is something that anyway other companies are doing as well. If you buy a game on Steam for example you can claim a refund when playing less than 48 hours and request a refund within 14 days, so for me it makes sense that Stadia is not much different.
I didn't play for 48h, most of my play time (about 4-5h was trying to determine if I improved the connection). I owned the game for just over 48h since purchase but not played it for that long (it's only been out less than 60h).
I am not interested what other platforms do, Stadia wants to show off its brand as an online game space, it's doing a terrible job showing its back to the early birds.
By your own admission you were over double the play time limit for a refund. I understand it's frustrating but this is on you, not Google.
A broken service that doesn't work as advertised is not my fault. No policy will "override" the actual user experience and how the company handles itself in response.
Same here, can't get a refund - and I've both below 2 days purchase time and 2 hours play time
Bought the Ultimate edition, loaded it up -- and it looked terrible with artifacts bad graphics. I'm on gigabit fibre and the network setup says my set up is excellent. Played for 20 minutes before giving up. Then I tried do get a refund and hit the wall. Talked with Google Support but they couldn't help me ![]()
An update on this. I got my refund after talking to Stadia Support. It just took some time ![]()
