Surprised by comments here

Hi. Firstly, I’m not a gamer. We don’t have any other gaming console in my house. I signed up for Stadia Founder during the summer as I was attracted to the concept and wanted to test it out. So far I’ve been impressed. It seems to work well through the Ultra and I’m enjoying playing Tomb Raider and Grid - it’s great to be able to dip in and out and fit 20mins in here and there around managing a family. But wow - I read the comments on here and really think. some expectations need to be managed. What did people expect? I thought we all knew this was a project in development? I thought that’s why we took the plunge to sign up early to test it out, feed back and help improve Stadia? Sorry, just trying to understand the frustration ... .

Unfortunately, there was/is a lot of misconception as to what Stadia is, that coupled with a certain level of naivety on what being a "Early Adopter" of technology/software usually involves has left a sour taste in many mouths.

Not to mentioning 90% of internet says "Lol doesn't play as well as my Pro/X/GTX/Vega local device that cost me £/$200+, Stadia is trash even though I have no experience with the product, Google will kill it in a couple of months, omgz the data usgage, but you don't own your  gamez!! etc"

Like what @Mordyn points out almost all of these bad reviews are coming from people that dont have a clue. All speedtests and network testing typically rotates around TCP but even for inexperienced people just looking at the troubleshooting section shows that UDP is also used and is widely used for gaming services.

My ISP drops a ton of UDP packets for reasons they cant even understand, which means stadia via desktop is real bad for me, but if I use a VPN stadia via desktop works perfectly for me. Stadia via the chromecast ultra works 99% of the time though. So people have 1gbps internet with great speeds and assume that equals great internet where in fact its just a selling point for the ISP.

People as a whole just love to complain nowadays. It’s quite sad honestly.

From my perspective, technologically Stadia is already proving it's advantages. I can play on the Phone at work if I wish with pretty solid picture. So place isn't factor anymore.

My concern is a store. I hope it will be improved. I think everybody knows what's wrong with it.

Until store becomes Store, my expectations are not fulfilled.

I really don't think the store is going to be that much of a problem. In their own words, Google has developed this tech for 3-4 years so I think they have started negotiating with developers etc. a long time a go. The launch was a bit confusing but I think a lot of people missed the main point: the tech works and It works for most people with a decent network setup. I suppose there is a large potential customer base for Stadia (and competitors).

Also, it would make sense for competitors to spin Stadia in a bad light. I mean, some commentators may even be running their own agenda... does that sound a bit like a conspiracy, maybe...

Humans will always hear the narrative they want to hear and it takes too many words to be precise enough to TRY to make what your saying crystal clear, all the time.

As someone that IS a gamer I too am in disbelief. I've consistently bought every major console at launch since the PlayStation Vita and Stadia hasn't really been much different than any of the big console companies. The platform comes out with a handful of games, then things are quiet for a while and then they get in to gear and do updates/releases on the regular. Just as a recent example, both PS4 and Xbox One both launched in November (not unlike another platform we all know) and they wouldn't get their big games until March and April respectively with Bloodborne and Titanfall. Stadia will be getting its first big post launch game hopefully in December. Yeah we don't have an exact date but I'd prefer they announce when they're absolutely sure they'll be able to get or out by then.

I'm not surprised at the bad comments. Most of the people complaining just had no idea what it was supposed to be and don't understand the partial launch with some incomplete features etc.

There was tons of information out there. People didn't do their homework to understand what they were buying and then because they didn't understand, they were disappointed or angry.

The launch was kinda bad though, lol! The mix-up with the codes not going out to Founders was pretty bad. But I think they've done a lot of good things since then and it's still not a finished product. Even when they get the missing features working, I'm sure they'll be improving it regularly. Some people just bought it because everyone was taking about it, so they had unreal expectations.

It’s Google’s fault. They shouldn’t have bragged about the 10.7 teraflops that is more power than the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X combined, every game will run in 4k 60fps etc.

Now after launch, we see that all games on Stadia is outperformed by the Xbox One X graphics wise and not all games are running in 4k 60fps. Doesn’t matter that it’s the devs decision, Google shouldn’t have said that the way they did.

It doesn’t matter that we Stadia users like the service and are patience. Gamers as a group are fanboys and like to see the “other” systems fail.

I believe in Stadia but Google really need to work on their communication skills. Don’t mention things you can’t 100% back and be more transparent about what’s coming to Stadia and when.

Frustrated at the lack of selection of games.. but impressed with the overall performance of the games so far. So I’m hopeful with more time this will remedy itself.

Very much agree, Nylas and ktd.   I'm surprised that he's surprised, haha.  For me personally, I care to complain/critic/suggest as much as I do, because I care for it to succeed.  I want to sell everything else gaming that I own tomorrow, but today, they've not convinced me to do so.  I'm hopeful, but also impatient, ha...

I am not sure why you are actually surprised.

Google announced more power than the current machines, yet the games are running at lower settings on Stadia.

Google announced games in December, we are on the 17th of December and we don't even have a date. We don't know what's coming in January either, etc.

Google announced pro deals, we had a period with no pro deals. Now they're having really limited deals. Other platforms have better prices and their deals are usually a lot more interesting.

Google announced features that aren't added yet, and most of us suspect the reasons are commercial non sense. Also they announced adding them in "2020". Seriously that could be 2 weeks or 54 weeks. When in 2020 ?

I am currently ok with the service and I enjoy my games. But I won't be entirely satisfied until they upgrade their systems, provide regular Stadia Connects, have a calendar for upcoming games in the few next weeks, have a calendar for system updates, let us play on every screen and wireless, etc.

@DaHood : Nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to the behavior of people when expectations are not met, whether on valid or misconstrued details.

Kudos appreciated if deserved.

I am very happy with the Stadia...Some people need to stop comparing apples with oranges and look at each product on its own merits...this is a new streaming product attempting to do things a little differently, from a company trying to use its established infrastructure to provide more for its customers...it's going to have teething issues and hiccups to start off with...take it from me - try starting a school from scratch....that's when you appreciate how messed up a new launch can get!
