Chromecast ultra ethernet, stadia controller, screen is black, pressing controller buttons has no response, except, pressing the central stadia icon symbol button of the stadia controller, the tv makes a stadia sound and on the upper side of the screen a small dark grey message window with white letters shows:
(|>) Game is launching. Please wait...
This is the same for more than 40 minutes now. Holding stadia button doesn't respond either.
Before this happened, I wen afk from the game, upon returning the game was still playing, and then there was an exit option, and restart the game to continue message. I pressed the A button. And the screen has been black ever since. Like explained above.
Hi SilverOwly,
Not sure if you've managed to fix this yet, but when things like this happen there are 2 things you can try. The first is if the issue is related to the CCU rather than Stadia service itself, is to simply pull the power and then plug it back in.
If it's crashed on Stadia's side, I often close the game, boot up any other game (one of the F2P games would be fine) and then swap back to the game you want to play. This basically fully closes the session for the previous game rather than having Stadia save the state in case you're swapping device/your internet dropped.
EXACT same thing happened to me, so I did a search and found this thread.
After reading, I figured I'd try to out-smart it by starting another game to see if that would "bump" the old malfunctioning one. I did so from the PC. It asked if I wanted to exit the current game (citing the game name). I said yes, and the second game started in the browser just fine.
That however did NOT fix the one on the TV + Chromecast Ultra + Stadia Controller. Finally I just unplugged the CCU for a few seconds, waited through the reboot, and now it seems fine again.

Hi @AzDayton,
Thank you so much for being a Stadia fan. We apologize for the issues you've been having with your Stadia experience. We appreciate your patience as well as your drive to find a solution! We're glad that rebooting the CCU was able to fix the issue. We also appreciate your feedback and will make sure to pass it on. If you need anything else or any additional support from our community Stadia Guides, it'll be best to create a new post, as you'll get better visibility. With that said, we'll go ahead and close this topic now.
Sincerely,
James
Someone needs to tell Google that their "time out" is WAY too short. I get interrupted all the time, and am used to being able to just set the controller aside, do my business, then resume. At least three times out of four when I do that with Stadia, it's already timed out. And while that was annoying, this new issue of having to reboot the CCU completely is a SERIOUSLY big pain in the you-know-where!
