Would be possible to see steam on stadia? This movement would be epic. You pay steam games and google puts the hardware....this feature would be a big movement in the market. Also for valve as many people would have access to its huge service without a PC. Google wins with the subscription and valve with more potential clients....
@Fink you'll never see steam on Stadia, for a lot of reasons. The main reason though, is that steam is not a developer/publisher. They're a store that sells for developers. What we already know we will see is developers who have a large service, like Ubisoft and its Ubisoft+ service, come to Stadia eventually. But I don't expect there will be too many of those deals either. You have to remember subscribers are going to have to pay extra for services like that. So you'll have to pay for Stadia pro most likely, and also pay for Ubisoft+. I guess it's possible they might do more developer deals like that and users can decide which extra services they want to pay for and use. But it could get over complicated. But steam is not a developer, so the chance that you'll have some kind of steam and Stadia partnership is pretty much zero.
Yeah this wont ever happen, Stadia trying to be its own thing so it's like asking for Xbox on it, there is a service called Shadow PC that is what you want for full Steam or geforce which comes with high risk of games being removed.
GeForce now has steam access I believe. In my case I would be more likely to pay a pro subscription if it includes steam access.
Never say never. I have to say its not quite true. Have you seen geforce now? Your steam Library can be played on that service with the games they support. So saying NEVER is a huge unprofessional response from someone who don't know squad. Is it possible to stadia to make a move like this? Oo yeah anything is possible.
FYI- I DONT THINK YOU WORK FOR STADIA, YOU SHOULDN'T RESPOND IF YOU HAVE NOTHING TO BACK IT UP.
Yeah, but would be nice though, if Steam would create some service similar to stadia. Then there would be some serious competition between the two and that's good for consumer price...
@Xevioso, I realize this is 2 years old, but for anyone coming across this thread - consider that NVIDIA Geforce NOW - which allows store connections (such as steam.) NVIDIA Now is a competitive service to Stadia, a difference being, on NVIDIA Now, you can connect multiple stores (Steam being one) and any game you own on that store, and available by NVIDIA Now, is then unlocked for play w/o additional costs. Stadia can and should allow Steam access.
Lol. My comment was from 2 years ago. A lot has changed. We've seen companies like Microsoft and Sony buying big name development companies. Lots of changes in the landscape, and frankly Stadia as much as I love it, is struggling. So because of the way things have changed over 2 years, and the fact that Stadia on its own is struggling, then yeah... They should seek any kind of partnerships they can to keep things going in the right direction. But admittedly, 2 years ago I did not anticipate things would change the way they have and as fast as they have.
Keep in mind that stadia is a new platform and not a gaming pc where you can download your steam library like GForce Now. That means the games have to be ported to the stadia hardware ( which by the way is running on linux).
So asking if you can play your Steam Games on Stadia is like asking if you can play your Steam Games on Playstation.
It's not something I can ever see happening OP. It would be very cool if it did however.
There has been rumours that the Xbox Series X may include a Windows mode that allows you access to Steam but again I just can't see it happening.
Are any steam games meant console or pc?
If they could pull off running steam and be another platform for steam, they could control the whole environment and have games available for stadia as they get it working. And once they have it working, they should be able to keep it working since they control the whole environment.
This really needs to happen if stadia wants to excel. It doesn't have to be steam even, but I would like to know that if I am purchasing a game, I can run it locally at a higher quality. I don't want to pay 2x for a title, and quality over mobility in this case. The same goes with the titles I own locally. Stadia could verify my license key with whatever DRM system it needs to and give me access to it on Stadia (If it's supported). Heck, I have some GPU heavy applications I would love to see on Stadia to use on the go. Currently I remote desktop into PC's with the software installed. Stadia could be a game changer if it figured out a better DRM
I don't think the Steam will ever run on Stadia, however, the game developers should consider making their games available for free or heavily discounted on Stadia if you own the game on Steam. Paying for the same game twice doesn't feel right.
Steam as a client can be installed on linux machines. A Steam Stadia merger would make consoles obsolete and PC gamers on notice. This would be beneficial for both steam and stadia. Although Stadia may profit more from new sales the long game is the data they acquire from users. Steam has the users and games, stadia has the streaming.
Stadia has a lot to prove and long ways to go to even compete with consoles especially PC. Why wouldn’t Google Stadia want to acquire Steam for diversication?
There's no way Google would willingly base one of their ventures on Windows, and 'having' Steam is pointless unless the individual games are ported to be Stadia compatible.
It would be better as a hybrid console gaming PC to see Steam on Stadia, especially as a new developer.
I came across this thread in 2022. It's old, but worth updating the data with something relevant. Stadia still doesn't allow Steam library support - ie. you can't connect and play games you already own on steam. However, NVIDIA's game streaming service (Nvidia Now) does allow store connections (Steam being one of them). If the game is owned on Steam, and available by NVIDIA's service, then it unlocks and can be played/streamed. This is the only reason I don't use Stadia.
