Hi all,
I own / play Stadia but am living in the UK. In a year or two I may move to live in Japan but I know that Stadia isn't available there (yet).
I've been reading this official FAQ on moving to other countries with/without Stadia. However I would keep my Play Store and account as the UK but it seems it would still know I'm not resident in my country? Even if I continued to pay via a UK account?
Any ideas on whether this would get complicated or impossible if I moved to Japan would be appreciated. It is making me consider whether I should continue using Stadia or not ![]()
Thanks
@Ginjarou Stadia is not currently available in Japan, so your best bet is hoping that it will be available in the country by the time you move there.
And yes, the Stadia account country origin don't matter since the system will check your local IP. I have a US account and actually tried accessing it while I was in Tokyo last year, and it blocked me.
But let's say that Stadia is available in Japan when you move there, there shouldn't be any issue keeping your current account. You will still pay the price in the currency of the account you're signing up from.
@Ivan > You will still pay the price in the currency of the account you're signing up from.
You meant "signing in from" correct? Or do you pay in the currency of the country where you initially signed up for Stadia?
@SanjaySyam To my knowledge the currency is locked to the origin of the account that you're signing up Stadia with. Sadly, I have no way of testing it out right now.
