Stadia keeps booting me for unstable connection when connection is very fast WiFi

My connection is WiFi 5 GHz running 300+ mbps. I cannot play longer then 1 minute. I can stream videos, and anything else on my WiFi with no problem. It doesn't seem to work at night when most people are playing, but midday it appears to work.

@ChaseHell Just curious, where are you located? Are you using VPN to use Stadia? There can be many factors affecting connection, and there's also the factor of your location to Google's data center that's hosting Stadia, so internet speed test may not always be the best indication for Stadia performance.

You can take a look at the article below for some troubleshooting steps to improve your experience

This appears to be a Stadia issue.  I have the exact same issue, stated last night like the previous post.  Stadia had been nearly flawless for the 8 months I have been using it before last night.  Now, nothing launches due to unstable connection.  Reddit and other forums seem to point to this issue cropping up in multiple places starting yesterday.

Same here. Started 2-3 days ago. Completely unable to play tonight, works for 1-2 minutes and then drops on any game. I've spent hours making changes to my WiFi to see if it's my issue but I'm convinced it's not. I can stream TV and movies on 3-4 TV's in the house at a time but can't play a game alone? I'm a network architect too, I've spent 15 years building networks. It's either my ISP or a Stadia server issue as far as I'm concerned. But my speed tests are 150Mbps+ everytime anywhere I've tested.

I've gone through all the troubleshooting with a customer service rep. I then called my isp about my modem and router. Modem and router are perfect and they tweaked speeds to make it faster. I can play late at night and middle of the day. But who has time to play then?

Same here, but have been suffering for a month when my connection used to work perfectly fine.

What are we supposed to do about this?!?

For me at least it seems to work non peak times. That basically means late night and middle of the day. Who games then?

This might indicated that your WiFi, although very fast 99% of the time, has critical speed drops for a few seconds. I had the same issue with a defective wifi router.

Chrome extensions and VPNs, as well as special OS WiFi settings can also cause the issue.

Do you have this problem on Chromecast Ultra or did your try more play abilities like Chrome/mobile?

Ok did you try using the Google DNS servers, if you are able to change these that is?

The Google DNS servers are: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

I had similar problems a few weeks ago. It turned out my isp was having issues maintaining a constant upload speed. It would drop as low as 0.2 mbs Try a speed test when Stadia boots you and see if the upload speed is low.

Doesn't seem to be the issue I do it every time I get booted and its always above 150

Same exact thing happening to me. I'm getting great download speeds, everything is working just lovely. Except Stadia. Whether I'm on ethernet or WiFi, no love. Stadia worked great since Day 1 for me... And now it's booting me every 2 minutes, and locking me at awful resolution. I spent an hour with Customer Service, but to no avail. Customer Service rep said they're aware of the problem, but don't have a solution for it. Which is awesome, cause CP77 hits in like... 2.5 hours for me.

Ya, for all those that pre-ordered cp 77 imagine the absolutely terrible experience trying to start a game and getting booted through the entire intro/tutorial. This was my experience the other day trying to start AC Odyssey. Gonna be a big problem here in a couple hours.

Add another to the list. Same issues here. I've checked everything, no dice. I've tried 2 windows laptops (chome and edge), 1 macbook (chrome and edge browsers), 1 desktop (wifi and hardwired), Pixel 4a (wifi via app), and CCU (over wifi and hardwired). All have the same issues. Location is northern VA - near the majority of the data centers. Typical ping is 8-11ms. I even tried completely bypassing my router and hooking the modem directly to my desktop.

Currently have Xfinity. Switching to Verizon fios next week.

Same issues with Frontier Fios in Tampa. Sometimes the Stadia speed test says I have a "great" connection, other times I'll get a ridiculous speed score of like 2 Mbps and it says "your connection isn't ready for Stadia yet". I have a feeling it's Frontier again, even though these problems were fixed several months ago. Stadia is a great service but unfortunately it relies too much on one having a rock-solid internet connection 24/7.

I thought something similar, but switching from 5ghz WiFi to wired fixed my issues. I’m also Tampa Frontier. I can game stream on the same device via shadow.tech at 5k res with no issues then switch to Stadia and it’s constant issues. Stadia is mis diagnosing WiFi IMO.

I have my Chromecast Ultra on ethernet and I still get stutters sometimes. It's either Frontier or Stadia servers (Miami in my case) can't handle the load.

Call your ISP and they change the cable from the street pole to your router, it is your ISP's fault.

Changing the cord runs smooth as butter.

Stadia has no connection problems.

It's your fault.
