Stadia has a free tier, but people don't know it

Good morning everyone!

I have appreciated these days of Good Stuff. Nice games on their way and fresh demos to try. It's also great to see that the marketing team is relentlessly putting the message out there that you can play stadia on virtually any device you own, with no downloads, installs or updates.

If I can suggest the Next Big Goal™ for the for the winter marketing campaign, that would be let people know that Stadia has a free tier too. There are still too many people I've seen on Reddit / Twitter / Discord that downright ignore they can join Stadia for free. The recent launch of game rental services like xCloud and Luna has worsened things in my opinion, people just think you need a subscription to play games on your favourite streaming service.

I see a great opportunity to run a campaign with nice deals for free users, advertising that:

  • You can join Stadia for free
  • No subscription is required
  • Games you buy are yours forever

These are amazing selling points that put Stadia on another, unreachable level with respect to all the game rental services on the market today. It's a message that definitely needs to be understood once and for all.

Well definitely doesn't help that we have so many people on Twitter and YouTube making them false information about Stadia. So when you tell the community that there's a free version of it that they just have to buy the games that's it they call you a liar

@Michele  well is also funny that in Italy ( and you should know about it ) no one of the biggest game magazines spoke about the good stuff or the demo, I mean all my gamers friend didn’t know that they could try immortal fenyx rising for free without any download and immediately on their pc or smartphone, for me google need to hire someone that know how to do marketing, the thing is that they live in a bubble it was just my thought few days ago, now is confirmed, at stadia headquarters they don’t know about marketing.

It's not a problem related just to Italy, The Nerf Report made a recent video explaining just how little coverage Stadia gets on big webzines / info sites.

The fact that Hutchinson's tweet got far more retweets than all the official tweets about the Good Stuff combined is indicative of the media coverage Stadia has received so far.

I told many of my friends tooand I'm in Germany.

Most of them didn't know they can play for free the demo so your right. The free tier is a huge pro argument for stadia but the most of the people out there won't know

I describe stadia: it's like steam but without an own pc. You need to buy the games and you can play them. Additionally you can subscribe to have some games for free
