So apparently Stadia has a conflict with Frontier FiOS again (from my research it was a problem back in December).
I have a 500/500 fiber connection, connected via Ethernet and it still has an issue with massive skipping (tried several routers and switches). When I tunnel through a VPN, issue goes away. Does anyone know if Stadia/Google are aware of the issue and is there anything I can do to raise awareness?
At this point, the service is essentially unusable if it doesn't get fixed and I really won't have any other choice than to return the Premier Edition that I just purchased.
Good news to share regarding the frontier/stadia issue.. The stadia team is currently working with frontier regarding a few legacy firewall issues on frontiers end. So far the frontier servers that I connect to stadia servers through were updated, and I’m happy to say my frame drops issue and other network related issues are resolved. Kudos to the stadia team For really working w ISPs to deliver their service as intended.
Just got a few minutes last night to test this out but I can report that it is now currently working at my house as well! Huge thanks to the team at Stadia for working with the FiOS people and getting this resolved. I know from experience that it was probably quite the challenge. Well done. Now I'm really excited to finally get a chance to test out my premier edition setup this weekend!!
Also, thanks to everyone else who chimed in with their experiences. It really helped to bring attention to the issue.
If spectrum had the upload speeds that i require I would’ve switched too.. good move. On the other hand I’m happy that I did not switch and the issue is now resolved for me without losing much. But as I have said previously, if you can switch, do so until the issue is resolved. Don’t get into a contract and hopefully there’s a promo period at reduced cost. Come back to FiOS once the issues are ironed out for your area.
Just to note, this still appears to be an issue in Florida. Specifically in the afternoon. Otherwise flawless before then.
For anyone in the Florida area still having issues, be sure to reach out to google as they will not look into the issue without more people submitting tickets.
I'm in Tampa Florida and having the same issues. ImI have rebuilt my home network from the ground up to ensure the issue was not on my end. Who do I need to call at Frontier and Google to get the issue resolved?
I’m pretty positive they’re rolling out the firewall fix across frontiers network fabric. This is a frontier issue but google has gone above and beyond to resolve it for us. Feel free to open a ticket with stadia support in the meantime. But I’m sure their already aware.
Everything seems to be all good in Florida now. I've played the last 2 days with no issues. Thank you @Xanadu for your persistence!
Awesome news!! We persisted and it’s finally working well for you guys!! Rock and roll ![]()
Issue is resolved here for me in Tampa. Games are playing smooth at 4k. Games look amazing. No lag. No graphic glitches.
Looking good the other day when I tried too (also in Tampa). Really hope it stays this way! Thank you @Xanadu and everyone else who reported the issues to Stadia/Frontier!
I appreciate it, thanks to the @StadiaTeam for listening to my constant chirping! I’m just happy we’re all experiencing what this service should be at this point. ![]()

Wow!! That’s great news!! We did it!
