If I only want to play Stadia games on my PC (through Chrome), do I have to pay the full sign-up fee, and purchase the controller and Chromecast etc, devices I will never use? Is there a custom price point for users who only want to play the Stadia games on their PCs?
Right now you have to purchase the Premiere Edition. So a lot of unwanted costs for you. If you ask here, maybe someone has an unused buddy pass, which allows you to start without the hardware and 3 months of Stadia Pro for free.
Soon it should be possible to subscribe to stadia without buying the hardware (and with Stadia Base you don‘t even need the subscription fee).

Thank you for your helpful reply.
@cprelude No you have not, but Stadia Is not out yet. At the moment the only way to play Is to buy the premium edition that's a sort of anticipate access.
Anyway soon stadia should be free for everyone (end of January?) and you can buy directly the games you want to play.
@Jenesis There was no talk about Stadia Base in the 3 month roadmap, so I wouldn‘t expect Stadia Base for at least 3 months.
Hi Jenesis...Yes well, we will see...Perhaps they're trying to generate some income first from early adopters. They have heardly been transparent about all the options really. I had never heard of "Stadia base" till today for instance.
Hi there...Thanks...Interesting that Google don't make any of this clear on the Stadia Home Page...! A completely locked down introduction to the service...!
