Stadia Trials

Jump to Best Response

These trials are a great idea but I dont understand why they need to be activated via a browser. I started one and the game icon appears in the tray on my CX, but it never loads up, meaning they HAVE to be played via browser. Why is that? Isnt the point of Stadia to play where you want?

Hey folks,

As of right now, this feature is officially available via browser. Personally, on my own set up, I was able to start the trial on my Chromebook and then it showed up on my Chromecast later on. I did a trial of Risk of Rain 2 and had a blast. However, this is not the case for all set ups. And the expectation here is that it will work for new users in a browser. We do want to thank you for compiling this feedback for us. The best way to get these kind of ideas in front of the Stadia team is to submit this as feedback within the Stadia app. To find this, open the Stadia app on your mobile device, then tap your profile icon in the top-right corner of the screen. From there, navigate to the "Feedback" button below. Make sure to be as descriptive as possible.

Best,

James

@MolotovMan1263 That's basically how Stadia is designed, to work via browser when you're playing on a computer. This way you only need to have very minimal specs on your hardware to be able to play games on Stadia. OS doesn't matter as well as you can play through Windows, Mac or ChromeOS. On mobile devices you can install the Stadia app and play through there.

What do you mean by CX btw? I'm not quite sure I understand the issue. How were you expecting Stadia games to work? (i.e. instead of through a browser, how did you expect the games to play through?)

Stadia Guides are not employed by Google. Opinions are my own.

The app on an LG CX TV, a supported method of play. As I understand it, the issue would be the same via a Chromecast as well. Any device where you need to add a game via the app first (so TVs, CCU, etc)

Hi @MolotovMan1263

Do you mean playing a Stadia game demo or the Timed trials?
Trying to understand what is going wrong? So your TV is showing these trials within the Stadia app or even in the main menu of your TV?

Are you able to start these trials if you are logged in on your TV's Stadia app?

There are new Trials just added, one for Ys IX for example. From the website, when logged into my account, I can play for 120 mins. When clicked it launches the game via browser.

my problem is, I play on my TV, so the only way to normally play games is to buy them, in my mind, these trials should be available that way as well. However, they are not. There is no option to “add the trial” and play via TV

Hi @MolotovMan1263

As there is no store in the Stadia app on your TV ofcourse. :smiling_face_with_smiling_eyes:
Is there a workaround if you use the Stadia app on your phone and "cast" it to your TV?

Nope, the game shows up, but never loads in after the title card
