So today we have the official app coming. I wanted to collect feedback here regarding the experience with Sony TVs. Because so far I only see people having terrible stuttering problems, be it with sideloading, or with the cast trick that worked to early access the new app, etc. Also important to know which models we are facing the problems.
EDIT: Opened a thread on Bravia Subreddit to discuss the current gen Chip performance: https://www.reddit.com/r/bravia/comments/o6dw75/android_tv_chip_performance_on_xh_series/
EDIT 2: codecs offered by xh95 model: (includes vp9)

Maybe we can try to create a case here, I will start
Model: KD-65XH9505. (Europe) from November/2020
Sideloading the mobile app? yes (this and last year) - stuttering
Casting from phone to new app? yes - stuttering
Works normally with CCU - yes, since the beginning no stutterring
After trying out the Developer options tweak, the stuttering is gone. (it does not mean the quality will be 100% now! but considerably better)
- turn on the developer mode (go to settings -> about -> keep selecting the row Build number for a few times until it says "you are a developer")
- Now you can go back to settings -> Developer options -> Force GPU rendering change to on
- Also in developer options , Disable HW overlays change to on
Try out, maybe restart the TV if needed, but should work right away. Greatly improvement on stuttering
NOTE: For my experience it did not make it perfect like it was on CCU. But it is definitely better and playable until official support for Sony arrives,
EDIT: Apparently upgrading to Android 10 / newest firmware also fixes the problems without the need of developer option tweak. I have an european xh95 model and I was not able to perform the manual USB update due to errors. Feel free to try this option, while the firmware update doesn't come automatically for your device.
Feel free to first just try a SW update and then try the Developer tweaks
UDADATE 30.09: all mentioned issues seem to be solved. I will update the post asap with firmware version
Hi all, any update/timeline on XH95 support? No firmware update for EU version yet and the app still stutters a lot/is unplayable

That's strange, I have used for a few days different games and no issue. Can you share some content so I can see what degree of stuttering? I think the performance is still not 100% like CCU, but it should be almost as good as.
Just wanted to say that my Sony KD55XH9296 now runs Stadia pretty well since getting Android 10.
Just been playing Immortals FR in High Performance mode and it's really smooth (seems to be 60fps).
I don't think the Stadia app on my TV is as good picture quality as when using the CCU but it's definitely playable as long as I use the GAME mode as other modes introduce latency.
that's great news, I see your model got a firmware update on december. My XH95 is still with september update, I still have android 9 and need to tweak developer settings to make the stadia native app perform similar to CCU.
TV: Sony XBR65A9G (USA)
Firmware: 9
Security Level: April, 1 2021
Game Mode: Enabled
Chromecast Ultra: Works as intended
Sideloaded Stadia APK: Visual and Audio skips, Input Lag
Official Stadia APK: Visual and Audio skips, Input Lag
Dell XPS 17: Works as intended.
Pixel 6 Pro: Works as intended.
Edit: I should mention I tried the developer option trick and that did not work.
Since the last firmware update for my TV the official Stadia app (downloaded via Google Play Store) on my Sony XH90 / X900H Android TV is finally running smooth and is able to use 4K and HDR.
But still I don't get 5.1 sound. It always shows that 5.1 sound is not supported.
All other apps on my TV (Netflix, Prime, Disney+...) are able to output 5.1 sound to my AVR. Even when I connect my CCU to the TV i can get 5.1 sound.
Anyone else with this problem? Anything I can do to get 5.1 sound?
Hi !
I have a Sony KD65XH9505, up to date as of 2022/06/24 with Stadia App installed 3 days ago.
TV is wired to Fiber internet box (download 239Mb/s, upload 232Mb/s, ping stadia.google.com 13ms TTL 115)
Stadia controller wifi 5 connected.
There is a HUGE noticeable latency (I'd say around ~0.3s)
Games run smooth, no stuttering but with delay as mentionned.
Turning display mode on "GAME mode" does not solve the problem.
Is this due to my TV / app and should I go for Chromecast Ultra ? Will this really solve the problem or are there other TV or stadia app settings I should adjust to have a better diagnostic or result ?
Thanx a lot for the help.
Regards
Hey, it's been a while, I'm not sure the current firmware updates might fix or breaking something. For me back in the day, the o lu way to fix was a replacement of my router. But recently with GeForceNow i had some issues with audio, and to fiz those i had to turn eARC on and off. So maybe check eARC if it makes any changes
