Stadia Pro games. Where are they?

Jump to Best Response
Hello! I wanted to check if you guys feel the same way I do: scammed... I read on stadia web page that I would get a bunch of good games if I pay the stadia pro, like: ffxv, borderlands, assassins creed... Instead of that I got 2 games for being "pro". Aand the games said you get a "discount" if you want to buy them... Yet, the prices are still quite high and you can get them cheaper somewhere else. I don't know about you, but I deeply feel scammed.

Hey @Siej, I understand your frustration. I can see what you mean, that you had the impression that you'll get more games for Stadia Pro, because you saw a lot of games on their site. Unfortunately Google didn't said there that not all of these games are for free and that most of them have to be purchased.

You could have found though on one of the pages in the Google Store this nice picture which explains especially the difference between Stadia Pro and Stadia Base to get a better idea of the availability of games. Maybe Google should have put this one on the frontpage of Stadia, so that nobody gets confused.

Nope, they never said you were going to get all those games for free. They just said you would get free games regularly. Note: "Regularly" does not mean monthly. There is no time span defined here. They also never said which games you would get for free (except for the first 2). They also always said that you will have to pay for games. They never said how much the discounts would be, only that there would be discounts. This was communicated very clearly by the stadia team. Don't be so entitled. They delivered, move on.

Yes, maybe they should have. But, again, when I preordered the founder's edition I didnt see that. Maybe my hype blinded me so hard :face_with_tears_of_joy:

@Siej don't worry you're not alone I too got carried away too. But yes it would be nice to have a few more different genre games to really test the ability of the platform. I was hoping for grid to be included but hey ho.... I now have a very long Christmas list.

@Siej

I agree with you 100%. The games they have provided are just crap. The service is crap too. They are doing the bare minimum to get away with money and not have to deliver good content.

  • Destiny 2 was teased to be a free game you own, not rent, but the fine print says otherwise and they have no version for you to be. Right now if you want to continue playing this F2P game you will have to pay a sub
  • They have a very limited library at prices that are high and just gave out a game from that library.
  • Giving out old (2013) or very niche game(farming sim)
  • Not keeping the promises of visuals: Upscaled 4k, medium settings.

Maybe scammed is a strong word but Google is definitely taking advantage of the situation and doing the bare minimum to make up for their issues. The worst thing is that a lot of this board and the sub are so pro Google they will take anything with a smile. Imagine being happy about getting Tomb Raider when they could've given us any of the sequels, Rage 2, Wolfenstein, maybe even Gylt or Grid

Google should communicate their plans with Destiny and give out the F2P version or make the Collection free. They need to improve and keep promises of 4l/60fps at high or better settings.

@Chufu Was this information there since day 1? I have to admit like OP I may have only listened to their marketing. I myself tought you got to keep Destiny 2 the Collection as they teased and hyped it up to be their main game, but in the end, it is just a rental. It doesn't even have a price to buy but I bet it is over 79.99 seeing how scummy their pricing is.

And the December games are **bleep**. The bare minimum or the **bleep**tiest games they could've given from their store.

@deprestige  I can't believe this is a real reply here. I guess this **bleep** service is for people that like crap like you. You are making excuses for Google screweingpeople with their Stadia beta...oh but they delivered...They delivered **bleep** you seem to be very happy to own.

@Maaseru do you mean the information about Stadia Pro and Stadia Base? Yeah that was out from the beginning on, so since Stadia was available in the Google Store. It's a bit hidden though, because Stadia has 4 pages in the Google Store on the top, so maybe not everyone has seen all 4 pages and just saw the "Home" page (called "overview" in the Google Store).

@Chufu Then I guess I got fooled by their PR and lack of real information when they communicated to the public. I did not see the fine print until after. Still, Google can be expected to do a lot better with their service especially when it is not performing as advertised.

@Maaseru I am sorry buddy but I am not making any excuses for anyone here. Most people on this form got to carried away on the hype machine that a company like Google creates (for what it's worth every company does this if it wants to succeed, that is just how the current economy works). Would I have wanted more? Yea of course but I am a realist, I know how business works. I just looked at what they promised and (technically) they delivered, albeit it is the bare minimum, they still none the less delivered. The difference is that I realise there is no point in getting angry. This is a very first-world problem we are dealing with. There are way worse things to be angry about. I hope you have a nice day

I think what i'm most frustrated about is Destiny 2. https://youtu.be/k-BbW6zAjL0?t=1393 In the first connect video they list Destiny as something you get as part of the Founders Edition. Being a fan of Destiny, getting the full game was a driving point in buying the founders edition. To find out it is a 'rental' only is really frustrating. Looking back at the video, I do notice they call it the Destiny 3 'Experience', which yes is a sly way of saying we are going to rent you the game, especially with no fine print on the screen when they say it...
