Stadia Not Working on BT Smart hub 2

Jump to Best Response

Apologies if this has been asked before, but has anyone managed to find a way to get Stadia working properly with the Smart Hub 2 from BT (UK)? I moved to a new address earlier this year and was excited about playing my Stadia through full fibre, but with the Smart Hub 2 it's never worked properly at all.

Multiple attempts need to be taken to recognise the controller, gameplay stutters and freezes at points and inevitably the whole thing crashes, disconnecting the controller and throwing you back to square one.

I can't replace the stupid hub for now as it's tied to our 'digital voice' landline phone service which my wife insists we can't give up, (even though it's never bloody used), which means for now my Stadia library is pretty much only playable on my phone through mobile data when I'm out of the house.

I've been in contact with Stadia support repeatedly who've been as helpful as they can, and BT support pretty much amounts to, "Uh, sorry but not our fault."
Has anyone else had this bull-crap happening, and if so did you find any kind of solution to fix it? I';ve been paying my pro sub since the system first released, but now I'm at a point where I'm going to possibly cancel.

i assume you are using google tv, you can buy the ethernet power cable for google tv and connect it by cat7 cable directly to the router you would get to utilise the fibre speeds fully then, even giga links hopefully. Best of luck bro.

Hi @Doghouse

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Which devices are you using to play Stadia?

Are you able to try playing with a ethernet cable? And if you are playing on WiFi are you connected to a WiFi 5GHz network?

Easy solution here. Buy a decent quality mesh system or wifi 6 router and plug it into the Smart Hub 2 router and switch off wifi (this does not affect your phone / lan line as it communicates via DECT radio with Smart Hub 2. Sorted, happy wife and you still have Stadia.

Hey @Doghouse,

Just wanted to check in here with you. We definitely know how frustrating it is to not be able to have that video game time. Let us know if you were able to try any of the suggestions above or if you still need help.

Best,

James
