A variety of games on Stadia will not receive updates or dlcs, the only game platform that doesn’t, and it’s time that Google make this clear BEFORE purchase. Stadia seems to be treated as a second class platform by devs and Google is allowing it. Time for Google to take responsibility and to stop telling customers to ‘contact the devs’. The buck stops with Google.
I agree with you about the fact that Stadia is treated as a second class platform, but I sadly think it is due to the very low number of players. I also belive that the decision to release or not release a dlc/update is up to the developer and cannot be controlled by Google itself.
The fact, which I was not aware of, that some developers are not releasing dlc and updates is clearly a bad signal for the platform.
Usually I'd agree with giocs here, but I have to say I'd side more with WireSpy on this. It is true, that there is a low population of players currently on Stadia for several reasons - least for the quality of the service as Stadia is just awesome - and publishers/devs will decide on a return of investment basis, however, this is were Google - at least at this early lifetime of Stadia - should stand up for their playerbase and paying customers. Only after Stadia has been fully established as a platform, we can fingerpoint at only devs. Until then it is Google and Devs.
I'm also a day one Pro user and Stadia is my primary platform since on a daily basis regardless of my 300+ games Steam library and very capable PC. I still believe that Stadia will have a turnover in mid- or long run. That still does not take away the drought of games and lack of support by some devs/publisher we have to live through at the moment.
Fingers crossed the low-level porting tools and Windows emulator/translator tech the Stadia team is working on will be out shortly and also will have a true impact...until then it is just hoping.
Cheers,
