So I've been testing cloud gaming platforms for over a month now (trying to choose one that will suit me best - mostly because of Cyberpunk release ;-)).
I've watched many comparison videos on YouTube, read this forum, other platform's forums and simply play the platforms and test them by myslef.
I've spent quite a few hours trying to figure out issues with macroblocking and banding on all cloud gaming platforms (including Stadia: https://community.stadia.com/t5/Stadia-on-Chrome/Banding-issues-compression-artifacts/m-p/48077#M299...)
In my opinion Stadia Community (at least on YouTube channels) is very biased - to the disadvantage of the platform.
There're lot of channels and guys who are spreading misleasing information (like "all game are running at 4k/60fps" or "there's no input lag" or "RT is now on Vulkan API, so Stadia has RT").
Two good examples of such videos are:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62M9RDprctU - this guy presents some conspiracy theories about how Digital Foundry (who I personally really respect for their technical approach, good technical background and unbiased reviews) wants to destroy Stadia platform, that their video is a clickbait (funny that he's saying this in a video "The truth about (...)" - that's a real clickbait title), etc.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYjTDQzAgYQ - this guy's rant about DF's material is really hilarious. It's so incompetent, non-technical and simply..stupid, that it's really hard to find words..funny thing is that he's accusing DF for not doing proper measuments, not showing the measurment, not using Stadia Controller - but that's exactly what they did https://youtu.be/xuYpFCavVeQ?t=531 - so he probably didn't event watch original video.
DF explained many times why are they doing this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvJ3lsFBkcw&t=323s - it is a very good example how "harmful" it can be to the community (in this case Xbox community..) - developer simply fixed all the issues.
I really think that if you all Stadia fans what to make the platform better, you should focus on constructive criticism and force Google to fix all the issues. Please put all the "fanboism" aside - it's doing more harm.
Sorry for posting these thoughts here, but I'm quite frustraded and almost "allergic" to BS and stupidity...
Unfortunatelly all my messages on youtube (where I'm trying to explain why author of given video is wrong) are being blocked - basically you cannot say anyhing "bad" about Stadia, because you're damaging the platform, the community and the whole cloud gaming...
Hey @stefan1123
Stadia is good but not perfect, and it won't work perfectly for every user
This is simply due to the different possibilities of hardware, technology, etc.
In countries like the USA and Germany, things may run better than elsewhere, because the Internet is better developed there, for example.
Google Fixxt many problems, builds in new functions and strives to provide Stadia with a great experience for everyone.
But there have to be other players too, I'll call it a Stadia ecosystem
Stadia needs the hardware and the internet, developers & the games and the games that play those games
Unfortunately, everything is somehow interdependent without players, no games, without games, no players, etc.
I use Stadia every day now, why because it's just easier and better to gamble with it in the shortest possible time.
Sure I still have a gaming PC, PS4, Xbox or Switch, but at Stadia I can press play and it works
Of course, it is not comparable to a PC with RTX, e.g. with Cyberpunk, but why do I need that I want to be entertained ![]()

Btw. here's an example of how much effort DF puts into making these videos:
I believe DF will be now hated even more, because of the resolution measurments (well, resolution in "high framerate" mode reminds me times of PS3/X360).
"Quality mode" is not even close to native 4k...
You just arrived and you know what Stadia is.
You are influenced by a popular medium such as DF so your opinion is worth 0, it is actually DF's opinion.
If you don't like Youtubers don't watch them, they need their show to earn some coins or fame.
The United States or Germany have a more developed internet, just LoL
Do not worry that those of us who pay for a service and a product or products such as games are not going to let Google do what it wants or give a bad service, we will always demand what we pay.
Stadia this year has focused on delivering what they had promised:
We will see what 2021... offers, it will cost us to demolish the idea that they have of getting a long-term audience of young users with services such as OUTCASTERS and its functions for streamers, because that is Google's vision in the world of video games.
If you are looking for a technical or serious environment, the best platform is PC.
Stadia is like fusion Nintendo and Disney for crystal show generation.
And with this as I have done on other occasions I will leave for a while.
I wouldn't want a friendly reminder with a horse's head on my bed.
The atmosphere is getting a bit murky here
I like to play and I like to participate in the forums, I like to praise the good and criticize the bad, I like to make friends and I like sarcasm and jokes.
Stadia is too slow and the frustration of the win is affecting us.
And this is the garbage that social networks like YouTube bring us, because in the end it does not matter if you like Stadia or not.
It only matters if you like the networks and the image they give.
The only thing you are doing here is linking YouTube channels that you like more than others, instead of giving an opinion of your own experience and since you have no way of creating your own opinion, you let others speak or think for you.
Happy new year and enjoy playing.
I treat DF as a source of technical information, objective measurments (with some comments to them - explaining the results and testing methodology) - not opinions.
It's like this issue with banding artifacts - I'm showing my results:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bCanllECk8&feature=youtu.be
- and everyone should judge on his own whether it's acceptable for him or not.
So not really sure what you're talking about and which of my opinion is "worth 0" - as I didn't even share any opinion about Stadia (only about the Community) in this post (in fact - at least in terms of input lag and latency - both Stadia and GFNow work pretty well for me. I'm located in Poland and have 400mbps ethernet connection - basically zero issues with connection and latency).
I do also own all the other platforms (Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One S) and TBH - I don't care that much about the platform - I care about games.
I simply don't like spreading BS, misinformation and offending other people.
I hope that 2021 will bring many new great games on Stadia and at least few interesting exlusives, that would allow this platform to stand out.
You do know that after that DF review Google reached out to them to figure out why their experience was so bad?
Resulted in this video https//youtu.be/knmIM8rq560.
Stadia is a streaming platform, and like all streaming platforms there are no absolute benchmarks or guarantees of individual experience as with local hardware.
Part of the reason why Stadia 'tubers / community get agitated about poor reviews is that it doesn't reflect their personal experience. IGN posted a positive video review of CP2077 on Stadia and in spite of *everything* in the video indicating otherwise, people were commenting on how Stadia has such bad input lag and how bad the graphics are.
The Stadia community as a whole may be positively biased, but the bias against Stadia on show elsewhere is more than a balance.
Yes, I know about https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knmIM8rq560 (btw. your link does not work).
In my opinion DF's videos are only showing results of their objective measurments and their comment.
I believe that DF audience is smart enough to understand, that it depends on the connection, location, etc. They also stress this in their videos.
In fact it's the DF's videos that induced me personally to check the cloud gaming platforms ("how well it will work in my case").
It turned out that it worked pretty well and I'm happy with the input lag and latency results.
So not really sure why some Stadia youtubers (some of them with quite a large audience) are offending them.
Frankly, because a little knowledge is a dangerous thing - and I wish we could make kind assumptions about the intelligence & objectivity of the viewer but we both know that's not how the internet works.
Stadia does tend to have higher latency than local systems in absolute millisecond terms. That's all that tends to be taken away from these things.
"Doom Eternal has 45ms more latency on Stadia" very quickly becomes "Stadia is too laggy for an FPS". It doesn't come with the context of "Which for the majority of human beings is unlikely to be noticeable and people have completed Stadia's Doom Eternal on Ultra Nightmare with no issues".
It's a bit like trying to determine the quality of a match or relative merits of 2 teams just from being told the final score of the match. DF don't do qualitative assessment.
I don't have an issue with what DF do. I subscribe and I find it interesting.
