Stadia 5.1 surround now works on SONOS Arc

SONOS recently released update 12.2 with support for LPCM 5.1 surround sound which is the format Stadia outputs.  All my Stadia games sound unbelievable now!  I am so excited to play games the way they are meant to be played.   The Stadia team should plan on supporting Dolby digital + and Atmos in the future as games begin supporting the Dolby format.

How did you get it to work? Mine still is stereo!

How did you get this working my Sonos setup is still only outputting PCM 2.0, even though it’s on software version 12.2 and the CCU says it’s outputting 5.1?

When I check my settings it says that my system doesn't support 5.1.

I have a sonos 5.1 set up and the Sonos Beam is attached to the HDMI ARC port on my tv.

Could you share the TV that you are using for this setup. I have an LG nano91 2021 model year, I have read online that people were having trouble with their LG CX because the TV does not support pcm 5.1.

Thank you.

Hi - can Stadia weigh in on this? I have a Sonos Arc with (2) Sonos One satellites

It's likely because your TV only supports ARC and not eARC. This means that you can only do DD with your ARC and not LPCM which is required for Stadia surround. The lack of more widely used formats for audio, along with other reasons, is why I am no longer a Pro subscriber.

If you do have eARC you'll need to adjust your TVs audio settings.

Hope this helps some.
