Something wrong with the graphics

Hey all, i recently had the chance to try stadia but its not working as intended. Something seems to be wrong with graphics, every game looks ulgy (like this https://imgur.com/fyj66TO). Playing on Chrome with 100 down so internet speed is not an problem.

@eyjafjallajökul When you're checking your internet speed, which tool are you using? Are you using the Stadia speed test?

https://projectstream.google.com/speedtest

Also, speed is only one of the the factors determining your streaming quality. There's also latency. Also, make sure you're not doing any other streaming activities (YouTube, Spotify, file sharing, downloads, for example) while playing games on Stadia.

Stadia Guides are not employed by Google. Opinions are my own.

At the moment, 4K isn’t supported on Chrome. Only 1080p. Unfortunately, 1080p images can look quite fuzzy in high resolution monitors.

if you're using it through the chrome browser it's going to look god awful (not sure why they do this) but yeah we're going to have to deal with that until they do something about it.

None of the responses have anything to do with the problem in the image. The world geometry and textures of objects are not loading their high resolution high fidelity models and textures (look at the log, that isn't a compression or stream bitrate issue). This is not related to stream quality or internet it is a graphics processing issue where the engine is struggling to load in higher fidelity objects, usually related to memory bandwidth or the speed at which the video card is able to process and load data.

For whatever reason, Google bragged about the power of Stadia and that it would be the best, but Red Dead Redemption 2 runs at 1440p upscaled to 4k at 30fps with graphics settings that closely match the Xbox One X, which runs the game at native 4k30... So they're struggling to run the game better than an Xbox, which isn't what they advertised.

Short of that, the quality of the stream is great on my network, but I'm very disappointed on the bait and switch Google has pulled on the fidelity of Stadia.

@Gh0st you're 100% correct here looks like there is rendering issues on complex objects. I am wondering if Google haven't quite turned up the servers to 11 yet (any excuse for a spinal tap reference). I'm pretty sure if anyone has the processing ability to do this Google have the infrastructure just seems to be a phased release of features and maybe processing power, memory, graphics etc.

@Razr I agree, I submitted feedback questioning the medium graphics settings in regards to their computer power. I'm guessing that this is going to be a tiered roll-out or they'll offer a higher package for higher settings because if anyone has the compute power for Ultra graphics and 4k it would be Google.

I also tried to make a post about the medium graphics settings, but it looks posts questioning the medium graphics settings in the title are auto marked as spam... At least mine are instantly rejected and it is 100% a legitimate post.

@Gh0st hmm seems a bit odd they would do that. Makes me wonder if it's a tiered rollout not necessarily by choice but more as a result of teething issues. I assume the stadia hardware in the DC's will be dedicated boxes for high graphic output. Fingers crossed they will sort it. I'm really wanting it to be all they claimed it to be, I've tried to get behind it all of the way. What they have achieved is by no means bad but they have made the claims this will be 4k 60fps gaming to rival high end consoles so they will need to deliver or have a very upset community. Keep the faith people :rolling_on_the_floor_laughing:
