STADIA wake up! Geforce Now is out!

Jump to solution

Geforce Now officially came out yesterday. Geforce Now is, so to speak, what Stadia wants to be. With it you can stream all games on Ultra in 1080p including RAYTRACING support.

I tested it yesterday and it really works, even better than Stadia. You can continue to use almost all of the games you own. It supports Steam, Uplay, Epic Games, Battlenet etc. The whole thing can even be used free of charge with a few restrictions. At the moment there is a Founder offer. Free for the first 3 months and then € 5.49 per month until the end of the year. Can be canceled at any time!

The service is awesome. I could really imagine that this is the future of gaming. Yesterday I tested a few things ... Wreckfest and Diablo 3 runs great ... World of Warcraft also ..... Kerbal Space Program also very good. I'm really excited. Which I also like much more than at Stadia ... you can still use the graphics settings of the games and set them as you like. This is not possible at Stadia, as it is more the same as with consoles.

Free to Play Games are also supported, e.g. Path of Exile or Fortnite. I have no idea what I'm going to do with all my hard drive space.

Stadia how long do you want to sleep. Nobody will buy their old games new for  60 € or more. You definitely overslept. If something doesn't change soon, unfortunately I don't see any future for Stadia.

Sorry for my Bad English im German.

Hey there folks,

Whoa looks like things are getting a bit heated here, so I wanted to post a friendly reminder saying that while differing opinions are most welcome in this community, mutual respect comes first. I kindly ask that we try our best to keep the conversation productive, and let's try to hear each other out.

Thanks everybody!

You may not agree with the OP, but the responses to his post were uncalled for and labelling him a troll, in my eyes, unjustified.

If this is any indication as to how "critics" of the service will be treated or those folks wishing to, IMHO, bring valid comparisons to other streaming services in the market place up for discussion, well ... good luck fostering that community lol

I certainly will think twice before voicing any concerns or suggestions I have on these forums from now on.

Hey folks, thanks for the passionate discussion on a hot topic. I'm going to close this thread because discussion within was a bit uncivil at times and we strive to keep conversations on here healthy and productive. Please feel free to open a new thread to talk about this topic, but note that we will be keeping a closer eye on these conversations and will start taking further action as necessary.

Both products are completely different. I use both and both have their ups and downs. Currently GFN has mich more games (but is only a small selection compared to the whole steam library). Also they dropped quite a few games from their supported list during beta. Also the UI is terrible. For some games you have to wait for every session till they get downloaded. Starting Games with Stadia is much faster.

That said Stadia‘s game library is pretty small at the moment. And almost None of the games use Cloud exclusive features, which would not be possible at the time.

At the end of the day both services give answer to different questions?

Do you want to play PC Games without the need to buy a PC? -> GFN

Do you want a cloud native platforms with features which are not possible on a PC or console -> Stadia

I must really giggle as i've read the news that geforce now released with its beta model, since ive a bet running with a friend last week, when they will finally pull the plug on GFN.. I use geforce now simultaniously to stadia and can tell you it isn't the jesus christ you are wanting it to be. Just wait until they are suddenly removing your favorite games do to "license issues" from your library and than we can talk again. I signed up for the free teir and its exactly the same as it was when it was under the last beta phase. Still "bad connection" resolution drops, signs all over the place even with my 100 mb internet low latency. Even with paid sub you have a 6 hour session limit, which is not good but reasonable, coz they will check out the audience first and their datacenter capaticity.

But i give you one thing. Stadia needs to change asap and with that i mean at least the communication between google and the community. That radio silence is driving people away slowly. Some sort of roadmap, straight announcemants, anything what to expect from those 120 tracked games, how is the communication between devs and google.. If this won't happen, than yes, stadia has overslept.

Doesn't store games locally so have to download before every session, time restrictions on said sessions, another Stadia is dead thread comparing apples and oranges....

In my opinion everyone can use the solution they like the most, if you want to play GeForceNow, then have fun with it, if you want to play Stadia, then enjoy, whatever you want to do.

GeForceNow sounds interesting I admit, but for the moment, I enjoy Stadia and I am also able to play all my existing games still on PC, so I personally I don't need another cloud/streaming service and instead enjoy the games I have for free on Stadia + MK11 that I bought.

Totally right @Chufu people can use whatever they want, we can afford to subscribe to Amazon prime when Netflix gets boring and go back any time like we can get fed up of Stadia and go try GeForce now or shadow and come back if we want, these this rules step up your game threads are so meh though.

Mhhh i dont have to download all games before every session in Geforce Now. Its only on some Games not all. Time restriction 6 Hours for 5 € a Month. After 6 Hours i restart the Game and play another 6 Hours. You pay on Stadia 10x 5 € to play one Game. With this Money i can play Geforce Now an entire Year.

Why i comparing apples and Oranges? Both Services are Game Streaming.

I dont tell anyone to dont use Stadia. I tell Stadia they must wake up and do something.

Sorry for my bad English im German.

As far as I'm aware GeForce now is just a service to compliment what you already have, Stadia is billing itself as a console in the cloud with it's its own architecture.

If Stadia is a Console with its own architecture, where are the games for this Console?

Gylt is the only Exclusive at this Time. Does anyone know more Exclusives for this Console?

Im not impressed. Stadia needs more to be Successful.

I've been a GeForce Now beta tester for years. I love the Steam, Blizzard, uPlay integration and hope Stadia will get there someday. When it works, it's awesome.

Unfortunately.the GeForce now UI has always been clunky. There are times when you're left in no man's land with empty grey boxes staring at you. Also the streaming quality can be hit or miss, even when you're rocking a solid 200+ mb down. Finally, you need a PC/Mac or NVidia Shield, which is pretty limited.

So yeah, GeFN is promising. It's been promising for years. But it still hasn't made the leap. I find myself still opting for Stadia, just out of simplicity and reliability.

The launch of GeForce Now only indicates that the cloud is beginning to standardize.

At the moment it offers me nothing that I no longer have in my case a 2080ti

Stadia right now is the only place to play 4k 60fps HDR.

So my subscription will continue until I can 4k 60fps elsewhere.

Wow Sho you show me here what you mean by a great community. Unable to take criticism and having a normal discussion, Stadia defends to the point of vomiting. I honestly don't want to be in such a community but luckily you are not the community but other very nice people. So thx for your Comment and F..... Y.......T.......

@Sho you lost it bro 🙂

Agree in a way with most of what you say and tbh the forum should be regulated with threads like this taken down, I come here to see about Stadia not to talk about xcloud or GeForce or even blacknut gaming (left field but actually a pretty decent service).

@ARGAH sorry f people like this @Ronegrim and exactly no one else wants to say things like this to a**holes like that (@Ronegrim) because of "fear" that they going to make the Stadia community bad (unwill get classic comments, like he already even left, saying things like oh well if this is the community then it's not good anyway etc) like I'm all set.

@Ronegrim n sorry bud I'm a founder so I'm more part of the community than you want to accept. So love it or hate it, I'm part of it. N more part of it then you, I don't go around posting trash topics like this in a Stadia forum. U talk about simple discussion? Loser, look HOW you are talking, what you are posting. You are literally promoting GeForce and saying you love it and everyone else should go love it too. You are just simply pushing your views, you're not even formatting it into a discussionable fashion.

N I could care less if you're a founder or not. You're also a hater and I'm really just all set with you people. Trust me there are plenty of GREAT stadia players who support Stadia (even if they support other things, they don't go in this starting topics and garbage posts about them, they keep things Stadia related) and I have friended plenty of them. N there are nice people too. Guess what though, you're over here taking about how much you love GeForce now and bashing on Stadia, why the F do I care about being nice to you? Or having you as a friend? Like I'm saying GET LOST! go play your GeForce now, LOVE IT! That's why I could care less about being nice to you, or your friend (on Stadia obv) chances are you won't be one of those people who sticks around with Stadia anyways (look what you're already doing lmao) so why does it matter to me? I'll be friends with, n nice, to actual STADIA FOUNDERS/SUPPORTS. 🙂

Well in reality the first cloud service was OnLive and bought by Sony later and integrate the technology to what is PS Now.

Did Sony buy onlive? I remember they bought gaikai which was to rival onlive by providing demos of games on web browser before purchasing or something like that, same cloud tech with very different models.

@Whito yeah was gaikai, not sure what happened to onlive, suppose could Google and find out

@ARGAH

Gaikai was also bought by Sony

But Onlive was launched almost a year earlier.

I think Sony first bought Gaikai and later OnLive

@Whito agreed, can't argue with that. Stadia is the first company to really attempt "on-line only cloud streaming platform" with major and indie titles. PS now was pretty much an app/extension to PS4 then to PC, also I don't believe you could buy games on psnow? Which imo is the difference. I can't comment on Online since I have never used the service.

I hear ya @Sho the op is probably one of those guys that will buy a PS5 but instead sharing how he enjoys with other like-minded individuals will probably be on Xbox forums bragging about how good PlayStation is.

@Sho

I also never tried PS Now.

The last console I had from Sony was a PS2, which I had 10 of them due to problems with the reader.

The problem is that Stadia is not exploiting its maximum virtue that the 4K 60fps HDR and is being defined as the game without hardware in multiple devices.

So they are confusing the customer ... because they have a 2020 marketing plan to sell precisely hardware.

To be honest I am not experiencing delays or problems ... I play 4k HDR without a single fault ... (good problem with crackling headphones and defective controller that will use the warranty when I am comfortable using it)

So for me there is no situation that is widespread that you need all the aligned planets to play

Stadia in terms of performance is exactly where I expected then some, it was billed as a console in the cloud and does exactly what it says ilbut the UI needs a lot of work, in that area I expected a dashboard similar to.xbox one and messaging fellow players that needs to happen soon.

it's only 15 bucks to be pro both on Stadia and GFN.

Honestly if both prove to be worth the sub, I can see myself using both, for example newer games on the cheapest store and using existing library on GFN. This way I don't need to buy again a game I already have elsewhere.

I tested GFN quickly earlier today and it was fine but I prefer using Stadia though. I'm sure it will improve over time. Stadia needs to improve on games content, prices, and add the missing features.

@Nilas  Think I will use Stadia and xcloud, have loads of Xbox digital games like at least 200 probably closer to 300, that's the great thing about these services they are cost efficient and use as you please, no need to choose a side it's not like you need to justify that big outlay anymore.

@Sho LOLOLOLOLOL! It's about time someone starts chasing these dudes away. They have no interest in Stadia except to compare it to services that are different and try to use that to say how bad Stadia is! They should all go!

Sorry @GraceFromGoogle I know what you're saying about allowing people to speak their thoughts, but these people are basically trolls pretending NOT to be trolls. Sometimes, actual Stadia supporters like us are going to reach a boiling point with them and tell them off. If it helps, our intentions are REALLY good! We're just trying to defend Stadia against trolls and sometimes we get angry doing it. 😉

Yeah great Job in chasing me away.... oh my God how Old you are?

I was just trying to push Stadia to do something similar to Geforce Now and to discuss the positive and negative things.

In response I got "Fu ** You"! I just don't think that's okay.

I am an adult and I want to be treated with a basic respect. We are not at school here. We can talk about everything.

With the best will in the world, I won't let myself be insulted.

The fact that I am not interested in Stadia is nonsense, I am a subscriber myself.
