SOLVED: Supervised Family Link account can't sign in

Jump to Best Response

Since the announcement of family sharing, I tried getting my son's account working.

However, when I log into his account and go to play a game, it prompts for me to re-authorize. If I click through to authorize, it pops up a google log in but just gives me a 403 error. If I close that, it says success on Stadia but then repeats the same prompt.

Tried logging out completely, using a different computer, incognito browser. He doesn't have a phone, but has a Chromebook and then my computer.

Went ahead and added him as a user on my phone.

It looked promising, but when I went to launch a game, it tells me;

"We can't open your game right now

There was a problem issuing tokens to the game. Come back later."

I saw a post online from a while ago, not related to family sharing, but that adding the account to a Chromecast helped the token issue. So, since I had his account on my phone now, I went ahead and did that.

After adding his account on the Chromecast, I only saw the one game I approved and was testing on the Chromebook and phone. Went ahead and launched it, and it worked. Wow.

To get more games to appear, I had to open them on the phone and approve them (I assume the chromebook would work as well.) They then showed up on the chromecast. I also tested launching the game on the phone, and pushing it to the chromecast. That worked.

So... it seems the missing link in all of this is the chromecast. Not sure why out of all the devices I used, the chromecast fixed it. ?

This needs to be added to an official support article.

Not really sure what's going on with the 404s on the Google login dialog you're getting.  Try adding your sons google account to your phone and see if you can work around it there, then try again on PC.
