Russian language in Stadia games

Jump to Best Response

What's up community

I've seen that there are a few topics about this already, but, why even if game OFFICIALLY supports russian it's not supported here on Stadia? I know english quite well but maybe someone is not so comfortable with it, so, why should I buy the game which, I know, perfectly adapted by russian text/voice, if I will not be able to play comfortable here on Stadia?

Examples:

Destiny 2 - russian is officially supported (not available on Stadia)

The Elder Scrolls Online - russian is officially supported (not available on Stadia)

What is the reason of these circumstances?

Dear @StadiaTeam please let us know.

Hey @valerekin,

Thank you for your reply and some more information.

So from what I understand, you have set your Google account language already to RU right? Could you try to set it to EN, save, then back to RU and save again? I know from some people in the past that this helped them to then being able to play in their language. Instructions for it you could find in this article.

Another thing to try would be for your chrome browser, I've found some steps here for changing the Chrome browser language, the steps are for Windows though. You could give that a try, but if the option is not available on Mac (as the article says), then you could also check if the system language in your Macbook is also set to RU.

Apart from that though I am running out of ideas here. What you could also try as last resource would be to get in touch with the Stadia support team as they might be able to help you further with more TS steps here.

Hey @valerekin,

do you know for sure that RU is not working for your games? ESO for example has RU according to the Stadia Store page available as language.

There are usually three ways on checking the language for Stadia:

  1. For some games it's possible to change the language in the ingame settings.
  2. As Stadia is a Google product, the language can also be based on the language in your Google Account (myaccount.google.com). You could try to set the language there to RU and then try a game again on Stadia for RU.
  3. There is also an option in the Home app (Chromecast) for setting the language, you could also try to set it there to RU and then try again.

Let me know if you need any steps for 2 or 3, but this is usually how you would be able to play games in other languages on Stadia.

@Chufu first of all - thank you for a quick reply.

I know that RU is supported by those games I've mentioned before, but it's not working on Stadia.

For example: my google account is set in RU, when I launch the Destiny 2 it's on ENG. And I can't change it.

I don't have a Chromecast app or whatever it is, actually I'm playing games via Chrome on Macbook.

The same thing with ESO. I have this game on Steam with all extra chapters, and it's on russian, when I've launched it here - it's ENG.

Why? Should I really download some app to install the RU as main language there? :slightly_smiling_face: Why just G-account settings is not enough?

Hi again :slightly_smiling_face: I've contacted the G Support, of course there is nothing they can do, cause their advices were the same :slightly_smiling_face:

The most funny thing, I've tried GeForce Now service aaaaand it works in RU, Steam is set to RU and it's using the language which is prefered in Steam app.

G acc is set to RU but Stadia just ignores it. I've contacted also Bungie support, but I believe it is up to Google Stadia team. D2 have RU support and on all services it's available, except Stadia..

Hello @valerekin,

If it's supported on others platforms there is no reason Stadia couldn't implement this.
At this point we don't have infos : Does developpers didn't add russian languages files on purpose, but just on Stadia, or is it Stadia's fault ?

In all case, and sadly, I think you understand, but here, the community can't help more.
The advises the community did give you are our only infos so far.

Have you tried the last solution of @Chufu ? Does it changed something ?
