Reverse Streaming

Would game streaming benefit from just the games overworld being streamed to your device? Example you download the games app and the controls are not streamed in addition to the visuals

 

Instead of downloading the whole game you would continuosly download the game on your device. Meaning enough of the game is downloaded to display visuals and allow controls for a certain area size in game. But it constantly deletes some of that install file and adds to it. It would have to allow you to progress your character.

 

So basically all your installing is a load time distance that can change.

 

Since your character can only move so fast within a load time area this should reduce down and up speeds for streaming while allowing the install file to change to load different areas of the true overworld

If IF it works game worlds could become enormous becuase then you could just add to the games true overworld by adding new areas and abilities. Since its all online anyways it wouldnt matter (mmo). Even if these games arent mmos they would charge a subscription to play (even single player)

But by doing this you could play a game you would never be able to finish not because of difficulty but because of sheer size

 

Look at assassins creed games the true genre of the game is climbing and stuff, its not like you can change that much with game play mechanics and the overworld, but instead adding new abilities and new enemy mechanics would change the game. Take assassins creed origins for example, its single player and its sub genre is egytian mythology. You could expand this sub genre of egyptian mythology by lengthening the story and as you progress you get new abilities and when you go back to old areas the only thing that would change is enemy mechanics basically. I meam the overworld is the overworld. Sure you can add a magic carpet that makes you glide off cliffs or fly around the over world or jump in the sky to clear building ledges without climbing, but the over world is the over world. Which brings us to the next point about story i guess you could have that character die within these types of games or offer dlc in the form of complete stories so you dont have to sit through 5 hours of catch up videos or be way behind in the story. It would be nice because then the overworld could be the overworld which could just be regularly updated with mechanics and new areas and stories. Like i said theres not too much you could change within the sub genre of egyptian mythology. Like stories could be differnet npcs within thay area of egyptian mythology time frames (look how battlefeild 1 jumped from npc to npc in the same level telling each of there stories)

 

Idk love it or hate it there it is

 

Like i said in the case of mmos its all online anyways but the story when you load into the game you would be one npc of many that works to accomplish there own story. So you would need a certain number of stories and a certain number of dlc stories offered for each of these stories

I mean an assassins crees origins 2 would probably offer the same map but expanded to new areas with new abilities with new mechanics. So why release a whole seperate game file on our hard drives why not just offer dlc. If your relase dlc and updates you could improve the graphics of the overworld and update game play mechanics of the very first game all while offering dlc complete story variations within that time era to offer the true second game in the series within the original install, which means i dont have to wait as long to play my game. And all this also means bigger overworlds becuase only a portion of the overwolrd is truly saved on my drive

Or you could just opt for this streaming style with regular sized games and pay once for the game

 

But it wouldnt be a never ending game

I mean if you have a glying catpet it doesnt matter how big origins get because you can increase speed. (Only true above a planet, you woulndt rid a carpet to mars becuase thr planet is one size and mars is a whole other levrl the dpeed mechanism woulndt match up to well) this magic carpet is important because it would allow you to finish that one story no matter how big the overworld is. Each story would introduce new objectives so it would be like each story has it owns enemies and npcs. So egypt is the home world and they are fighting different regions of the world and and the apple changes timelines allowing for each story to be different within that time era. Like maybe story 2 has you going between the lands of egypt and something near by while story 3 has you going between the lands of egypt something nearby and something near by both of those and story three would just be more spread out

What this is a server grade game where a massive over world is installed on the server where other consoles connect to it and download a certain size of the true overworld on there console based on position and that install file on each console is large enough to take account for download and upload speeds as it relates to player movement in the true overworld and download and upload speeds as it relates to changing the install file on the console as it relates to streaming as it relates to load area on the console.

 

Because if you stream everything about a certain game it takes alot more bandwidth to do so because everything is being streamed.

Where if you do have some of the stuff on a console and have a changing install file it reduces the bandwidth because not as much is getting streamed because some is getting performed by the console.

The key to this is using it with huge multiplayer matches because on current consoles they can only process so much, where if you have a server grade game and just connect to it you can increase player count. Its all about managing those downs and ups

Even single player games could theoretically benefit from this like asc origins where it does have some online elements built into the single player mode would basically equate to if worlds get bigger, your processing power needs to get bigger as well. 

Even games without online interactions could have an online map

This could possibly lead to cheaper console prices and bigger games. 

 

Idk there was something about the restream up of current streaming and canceling that out by doing this

I guess instead of coming out with a home console because stadia was designed for on the go applications. You could come out with a controller that has some procesing power built in to reduce the bandwidth usage. Like 25gb per hour like my oh my... if the controller has some processing power you just need a screen to hook up to it.

 

The conttoller would need a way to use the phones internet connection or a wifi connection to download the variable install file to the controller and a way to display it to the correct screen

If the install file is variable it will be smaller meaning the controller needs less raw power and the streaming bandwidth would reduce the more power the controller has, but i doesnt need to be huge. Since it is only a portion of the load area in the game the other area could be streamed and since its variable install size it wouldnt require as much storage

 

Please allow a stadia app to be purchased on xbox one?

Like i used to have a galaxy note 9 and streaming ran fairly decently on that but i have 40 follar android and there is no hope. The issue might be bluetooth and processing power of the phone. Maybe if you had a controller that used internet such as wifi to connect to the service instead it would run better. Like you turn hotspot on on your phone connect your controller to your phone with that hotspot connection and bam..

 

Idk cuz not everyone has hotspot though so maybe in praticality it would be a good idea to have a controller with some extra processing power to make up for the phones lack of ptocessing power but you need to connect it all (bluetooth should work because the image is already on the screen you would just need extra kaputza (balls))

Could you imagine it a call of duty world at war game with thousands of online players on each side of a team death match all over a games planet? (Sincr the install is variable it will change with player movement or load in times in the game-if you warp to a new area especially since the install is only a certain radius around the player anyways it wont be much to download and you could just have it as a loading screen)

 

Or an mmorpg with thousands of players battling eachother in the open world

Like you could procedurally generate the overworld of some games (genres?) and dlc content could add more assets that are added into the sequence. Eventually with enough assets the games overworld would become endless. Because if you procedurally generate there will be some variations

Like you could have caveman worlds sci fi worlds cartoon worlds, hell just add it all in

 

Even with this you would still need a variable install file because all those assets are going to take up space edpecially if there are very detailed assets

 

Just make sure you tag each asset with a master protocol do if you want update the graphics you can. Select the assets change it hit enter and it updates all of those types of assets through out the game. It might take while to update might need a big bang (reset the games universe)

But with this you could have a generated world that is static where all players get the same experience and you could also have a non generated game that is built. No one wants to download a 1000TB game which is why you have a variable install file. Like the server would handle all the online players because it has more processing power. And i guess the variable install file would relate to console processing power and number of players among other things the variable install file woild relate too. Idk you obviously want console players to be able to utilize a low tier internet connection and with all those online players your going yo need to do something with the server maybe extra power or connections. Like if you have extra power/bandwidth with the server then you can can take the load off the console required connection, maybe some bad ass internet inter connections.. like how do manage 70,000 online players on each consoles screen? Ik you deffinetly need a powerful console to display all that imagery idk im lost ik the farther away from the character the less detailed it gets.
