Proposed solutions for code delays

The true permanent 'harm' (legally) and broken promise is that people paid for a right to reserve a name. Nobody really cares about missing a day of Assassin's Creed. Extend subs for a week, whatever, that's trivial.

People paid for the right to reserve a name - that's what Google must fix. Hardcore gamers will see their janky names with the extra 420 or 69 or swapped number/letter every time they use the service. IT WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE TO FORGET THIS BECAUSE WE WILL BE REMINDED OF IT WHENEVER WE USE STADIA.

So, somehow, Google needs to fix the name issue. How can they do this? Let's help them figure it out.

My suggestion:

1.Wait until all preorders are filled and codes distributed.

2. Schedule a time where all user names are reset. Take the service down if necessary (you can use the time to perform 'system maintenance' - we're used to that)

3. DO IT RIGHT! - Announce that the name reset is happening in advance. Allot preorders scheduled windows to choose their names - do it in batches. Send people an email with their time. Make it a tight time slot if necessary - every 15 minutes - whatever. If servers have problems, well, at least everyone is effected equally.

4. There is no number four. That's it. Everyone gets what they paid for. Everyone is slightly inconvenienced, but fairness and balance is restored to the universe.

If anyone has better ideas, let them know about it!

A reset sounds like a cool idea!

It would help at least the ones who ordered very early and were not able to reserve their name, because some other people got the code first and registered the name they wanted.
