It seems that Stadia does not allow to broadcast in 4K to YouTube if HDR is not activated.
I was doing tests, and I discovered something curious...
If you record in 4K HDR it broadcasts it at 4K HDR on Youtube, but if you try to record from the same device (Chromecast Ultra) in 4K WITHOUT HDR... it records only at 1440p...
That also helps me to know why now testing on PC it never recorded in 4K. Record down to 1440p

https://youtu.be/5_rEiReXH1M 4K No HDR Chromecast Ultra (Recording downgraded to 1440p on Youtube)
I've been with support for more than 2 weeks (8-5640000032743) and they don't know how to give me any information. Chromecast support does not know how to give me information either... and advanced support has not contacted me, I have provided them with technical data, screenshots, logs... and they are not the only errors that I have reported and without answers ...
Tested with Monster Boy and Wreckfest, they are 4k games without HDR possibility, always record at 1440p
I think for now we can confirm that if HDR is not active, Stadia does not allow direct recording in 4K.
I would need official confirmation, since one of the reasons for paying for Stadia Pro was to play and be able to record content in 4K. But with this issue it makes it impossible for me to stream in 4K using a microphone, or the issue of HDR if I want to use a microphone...And through OBS I know that YouTube allows you to receive 4K perfectly live in addition to a microphone and a thousand other things.
Hi @Blackgem
Thanks for reporting this issue.
Did you also share your feedback with the Stadia Feedback option within the Stadia app or stadia.com?
It is a strange issue which looks like it is a technical issue on the Stadia side.
Also be sure to report this to support: Stadia Support chat ![]()
Reported to Stadia via chat and email on June 5. They asked me questions on the 14th, I responded by providing more information on the same day and... they no longer contacted me. They said that they would contact me when they had more information to give me... but they have not confirmed if it is my problem, their service or if this is how it should work.
Case number: 8-5640000032743
The new information that I have put here with the videos I have also provided by mail so that they have the information collected.
I have also commented on the official discord, forum, twitter and reddit.
Now the next step if I do not get more information or confirmation if it is the expected operation or a problem... will be to talk about it through social networks, streamers and third-party websites since I consider that the reasonable waiting time for a response to a problem has been exceeded. payment service. And honestly, I would not like more bad news about the platform on the internet.
I support Stadia from the first moment. I'm not a founder because I had 2 nvidia shield tvs, tablets, plus several Android TVs, chromecast... and a good assortment of controls, etc. to use the service in various ways before it came out. And someone gave me a buddy pass XD.
Hey @Blackgem,
Thank you so much for being a fan! We sincerely appreciate the love and support. It's been a little bit since this thread has been updated, so just wanted to check in and see if you had heard anything else from our support team? This does seem like a bit of a niche issue so there may not be that many reports other than your own. Let us know how it's going when you can.
Thank you,
James
p.s. I love your sign off quote! El conocimiento, de hecho, es muy poderoso! It reminded me of almost a backwards spider-man quote,
Last response from support on July 4 after sending the information here "Thank you for your response and the videos provided, I will send them to the relevant team." Open ticket and reported more details from June 5th.
I just did a test, it still gives the same problem. There are hardly any reports due to all the limitations that Stadia has to stream outside the PC (no microphone, no webcam, no scenes, no keyboard, no mouse...), and on PC who has needed it since you don't allow HDR either to mess around because they use third-party programs that do allow many more features. There will be people who don't have enough devices to even mess with it.
In Discord and reddit there were also people with the same problem... but people usually would have also kept the support answer that would never have arrived.
Just checked on PC, TESO in 4K. It limits it to 1440p since on PC you cannot activate the option for HDR.

I previously had a problem with HDR issues that was fixed in a Chromecast update with Google TV months after reporting it and providing technical information (they didn't answer me either...), but in this case the solution must be implemented and reviewed in the servers and not on client devices, I have not had an answer if this should be the expected behavior.
If this is the desired behavior, tell me, but being so, it is normal that later many people do not see Stadia videos in 4K and do not believe it at all if even with all the good intentions they have these problems. After all, one of the great advantages of Stadia Pro is 4K, but it seems that currently it cannot be easily shown to the public.
Well, maybe it's also that yes, it's very niche, my YouTube channel has the most hours of unaltered 4K Stadia content.
Knowing if it is a problem isolated to a certain group, a bad configuration, something temporary or if you simply want it to work that way, at least I would be satisfied.
I support Stadia in multiple ways, but when users ask me about recording 4K videos without HDR or on PC without using a third-party application, I have to tell them currently that it is not possible and that for an unexplained reason the quality of the created content drops. And let's also remember that neither on TV, Android TV nor others do we even have a menu to make recordings, that we have to explain to people that on top of that they must resort to external tricks such as using webapp in chrome instead of the official app and with more extra limitations...
In the end, many people no longer bother to complain or ask to fix things, or report, because they have been asking for many things repeatedly in different communities and in the end, third parties or competitors have implemented them before Stadia (and I am talking about functionalities , not new games).
PS: I'm not mad, and I'll continue to support the platform, well, but the truth is, it's frustrating that something for fun leads to so many headaches for the user due to the lack of information and communication at an adequate pace.
