Physical limited editions of videogames

Jump to Best Response

Hi,
I'd like to know if Stadia will ever release physical limited editions of videogames. I'm a big fan of them and a big Stadia fan... but... if one day I had to choose between a limited edition video game between Stadia and another console, I probably wouldn't buy it for Stadia
Thank you in advance for your reply!

Hi @Venerdi

Stadia is a cloud-based platform, which doesn't require physical copy of the video games, in this case, you won't see any limited edition. Where you will need to use the copy if everything is ready on a click in your browser without installation and updates?

@Venerdi I'm a sucker for limited edition, although these days I've been cutting back on purchasing them since I'm running out of spaces for physical goodies.

There are no news for Stadia to offer any physical goodies as part of collector/limited edition as of now, but I'm pretty sure there's a market for it. Almost all PC games these days only ship the box with a paper with voucher/key inside as part of collector/limited edition package, so I don't see why this can't be the case for Stadia games.

In this case your best bet is to submit feedback to Stadia team through the app. The more people requesting the same thing, the better chance it can happen.

I know Stadia but I think you know very well that you buy limited editions or collectible editions for the gadgets in them @AndroiFy . I bought destiny 2 for the bag and the thermal blanket. all Assassin's Creed titles for statues and picture books or paintings. The RE Village Collector's Edition itself is very beautiful... and all this is lost without the physical copy

Exactly! I can't believe the Stadia community doesn't want physical goodies! I follow your advice and give feedback from the app! I hope we can all do it.

I actually think putting boxes on store shelves with redemption codes in them, as much of a dying practice as this is, is not a bad idea as far as making Stadia a more visible platform to those who actually still go in-store for things.  I've always mainly been on PC, and the very few times over the last long while I've had a physical box for something it was mostly just a waste of packaging though.  For example, I bought ME: Andromeda on mega clearance "physical" and it had a case in the box that just contained a disc shaped piece of paper with an Origin redemption code in it and then everything went into the recycling and garbage bins.

I have various collector's editions! the most beautiful are those of AC, Destiny and Zelda. some are a piece of furniture for me. Surely seeing something of Stadia even on store shelves, as you say, can help Stadia itself. it seems that people do not understand that it is a real console but they believe that there is only a subscription to Stadia Pro. this is due, in my opinion, precisely to the fact that it is all digital.
