Performance issues

Jump to Best Response

Hi everyone, I'm having a very annoying problem with Stadia. I noticed that in certain time slots, despite my connection is good (130 Mb / s in DL and 90 Mb / s in UL both on ookla and Stadia tests), it is not possible for me to play due to constant lag, video quality losses and audio interruption. On these occasions Stadia tells me that my connection is unstable but as I told you in reality if I do some tests the speed is excellent. If I play early in the morning or in the evening, I have no problems, but I just can't play in the early afternoon. I specify that the problem exists even when I am the only one to use the network. I also tried to play on the smartphone (Note 10+) instead of the Chromecast, since the smartphone has much better WiFi performance (reaches 340 Mb / s in DL) but the problem remains. It just seems to be a time issue. Is it possible that Google's servers are overloaded at certain times?

Tanks!

In Italiano:

I've stated this before and its not something anyone wants to hear, but Stadia really, really, really depends on consistency of speed, not top speed.

It tests the consistent quality of your network far far more than any other service will.

The first port of call is really your ISP.  Ask them to monitor the line to get a stable connection, not a fast one (This is utterly counter what most users ask for).. a consistent 50mbps will run Stadia far better than a sketchy 300mbps that overloads the line.  This isn't something you can measure using a speed checker, but if you speak to an ISP they will monitor a line and stabilise it, and this shouldn't be a quick phone call, but rather a 24 hr at minimum line check.

I pay for a much, much faster connection than I get, but I have a smooth consistent line.  I have no hiccups with Stadia at all.  At max speed, it glitches.

Is it possible that Google's servers are overloaded at certain times? Yes because any server can be overloaded at any time. It is also possible it is your ISP being overloaded. With alot of people being in quarantine that means there is a higher demand on your ISP's network.

I honestly hate to say it but networking is not something that issues are very clear with.

I hope you can find out what is causing that time of day lag

You are not alone.
It is getting worse on my end and I don't blame my ISP.
I suspect Stadia can't handle surge of new players playing hardware demanding games. After all, they have limited number of hardware to accommodate everyone. They need to fix this issue for those who are paying subscription.

Same problem here. I play from north Italy on a 200MB connection, paying my pro account and everything. I just hope they can solve the problem quickly, because the situation is gettin on my nerves. In the morning I have no issue at all, works perfectly, then in the afternoon, when I could play, everything goes laggy and unplayable.

I wrote to the assistance and they say they are working on my (our) problem, let's see how much will it take.

Good evening to everyone.

@Mike86le molto strano, io avevo problemi simili ma col pc (risolto con stadia +) su Chromecast (rigorosamente cablato) mai avuto problemi, nemmeno se altri in casa streammano. Sei collegato via Ethernet?

Yes, what you say is perfectly true, but the strange thing is that in some cases (most cases, I'd  say), without changing any setting, position, or transmission mode, everything works awesomely.

So, connection stability is not the main problem, I'd say...
