PSA - The main reason why Buddy Passes exist - It's mostly about $$$$

I noticed that by default, my Stadia Pro Buddy Pass subscription was due to be renewed when my initial 3 month period expires.

Basically, this means that Google will make a lot of money (they need the monthly income) from offering Buddy Passes from people who don't bother to cancel their subsciptions before the 3 month expiry date.

This seems like an unpleasent thing to do considering the current state of Stadia, e.g. auto enroll trial users for a service that only seems to work well (including 4K) for those with a Chromecast ultra and solid Wi-FI or LAN ethernet connection.

Anyway, if you weren't already aware, cancelling your subscription early will not end your subscription before it is due to expire (3 months from when you started).

I don't think that's it at all.  Just about every subscription service works the same way.  Everyone should start getting notifications well before the trial period is over and they really couldn't have made it any easier to cancel the subscription.  It's when services require you to interact with customer support to cancel, over the phone, that I start to suspect they're making canceling inconvenient to hope to retain lazy subscribers but you can cancel Stadia in two seconds with a few clicks.

I think as well that Google offer a great thing to cancel the subscription at anytime (of course before the renew) while other subscription-services works in the case that you have to cancel 1 month before (exactly) and not earlier/later, which can be even trickier.

Therefore: Everyone who just "forget" to cancel... sorry, but put a reminder in your calendar or cancel directly NOW if you are sure that you don't want to renew Stadia Pro, because the option is there. So there is no excuse really to "forget" to cancel, because it's the own responsibility.

The trial is at least great, because you are able to just use 3 months Stadia Pro for free, you don't even have to purchase games, just claim and play the free games, enjoy and cancel in time if you don't want a renew, which is perfect. I don't see anything bad with it. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
