PSA: Tell your Stadia buddy invitees that the Chrome experience isn't the best Stadia has to offer.

With many of us inviting friends into Stadia with our buddy passes I think it's important to let them know about the current (temporary) limitations that playing on Chrome has compared to Chromecast and Stadia controller combination. I assume a lot of us are sharing buddy passes to hopefully evangelize the service and have them as long term players. So let's make sure to set their expectations. Currently playing on Chrome is limited to 1080P, it's basically what will be the free Stadia Base experience next year even though they're on Pro trials. So, let's make sure to let our buddies know that the CC Ultra is currently the best way to play, but the Chrome experience will improve. Let them know that they can buy a controller and CC ultra if they want to get the complete package. Mainly let's just try to keep someone from being disappointed because they're unaware of Chromes limitations. Have fun with your buddies, everyone!

@BinaryJay  I think another point to make is that whether they have 4K display/TV. Unless I'm missing other advantages that we get playing through Chromecast?

Things ran great on Chrome for me after giving up trying to set up the cast for two hours. I eventually got it set up but browser is still a fine and very viable option, certain games can actually look better on smaller screens.

Hmm i can't get the Ultra i already own to work with Stadia.  If i try and link account it never finishes. If is use app and choose that chromecast (marked as Supported Chromecast) it errors in after a few seconds.

I don’t have a Chromecast Ultra other than the one that came with my controller, but I did watch a video that specified you must use the one sent with the controller due to the firmware included on it. I also heard that if you put your current Ultra into beta test or something like that, that you can then use it for Stadia after activating it. Hope this helps.

Many of the games like Destiny 2 are upscaled 1080p, so it makes no difference whether you play on a 4K TV or a Chrome browser.

@SHI Logically that would make sense, but in practice I have found that to be not true.  Even Destiny looks better on the Chromecast on the 4K stream.  There have been some rumors that they have been ratcheting up the quality of Destiny behind the scenes lately as well.

I'm not telling my buddy ANYTHING! He's getting 3 months free on me, he better figure it out or ask me questions! Lol, jk. This is good advice, I'm pretty sure my buddy has a CC Ultra, but also honestly... I've played in Chrome in several different homes over the holiday week and as long as I had 5g WiFi available, I didn't notice any significant difference. But I guess everyone's experience is a little different. This is still good information to share, thanks.

I have zero issues in regards to all methods of play (CC Ultra, Chrome, phone).
